We all need ways in which our hearts can be held.
In which all the things that we're carrying around with us can become less weighty.
Can be set down.
We all need pause places in our lives where we can mark what matters most.
In this session,
We're going to spend a few short minutes together getting current.
Honouring what needs to be honoured.
And refreshing and recharging ourselves.
So,
I want to work with the most simple prayer of all.
Use prayer in whatever way you understand it.
I'm not talking about any faith or belief system.
I'm just talking about speaking some words out loud that bring us faith,
That bring us courage,
That bring us solace,
Simplicity,
And some ease.
We're going to work with a prayer of wow and ow.
Wow,
And ow.
So simple.
And yet covers most things.
Wow!
With wow,
We get to bring gratitude.
Wow,
Thank you for my life,
For my health,
For my friends.
Wow,
Thank you for this day,
For the breath that moves through me,
That I have a heart that pumps and feels that I have this life,
Even though it may be tricky.
Wow,
Thank you for this moment of pausing.
Of getting a little more grateful,
Of coming home to my heart.
Wow!
I get this day.
I wonder what it will bring.
And then there's Al.
Such a small little word,
Like we say to our children.
Owie!
And yet it can honour so much.
Ow,
I'm kind of worried about how it will go.
Ow,
That's happening in the world and I'm worried about it.
Ow,
I still feel that grief moving through my heart,
And it touches me and tugs me down and tenderizes me sometimes.
I feel the disconnect with that person.
Ow,
There's some physicality in my body that hurts,
And I'm worried about how I will heal her.
Ow,
I feel overwhelmed and scared and soft right now.
Wow and ow So simple,
But there's something in acknowledging things that lightens the load of them.
That helps us put them down by speaking them out loud,
Or by writing them,
Or by putting them in your notes app,
Or whatever works for you.
So,
Spend a few minutes now saying your wows,
Your gratitude,
Your grace,
Acknowledging your goodness.
Speaking out your hours.
What's worrying you?
What's hard to hold?
What's on your heart?
Give these things a little space now,
A little time now.
Use your words.
Trust that in noticing them,
Something gets lightened,
Something gets held.
Your heart doesn't have to carry as much.
So I thank you for joining me in this practice,
In this prayer.
Wow and ow.
What an amazing world we live in and ah,
What a tough place it can be sometimes.
What an incredible gift this human life is,
And oof,
Gosh,
Isn't it hard to navigate sometimes?
Wow and ow.
So beautiful and so terrible sometimes,
This thing called life.
And between those two places,
Our life flows.
And yet,
By acknowledging the spread,
The complexity between the two,
We get held,
We get to put something down,
We get to lighten our load.
So thank you for joining me today for this practice of wow and ow.
I hope that your heart is a little lighter,
Your mind is a little less worried and worrying.
You feel grace and goodness all around you.
You can find some faith as you go forward into your day.
Wow and ow!
What a thing this life is!
Thank you for practicing with me today.
I wish you so much wild wellness.
Wow and ow,
It really is a beautiful ride.
