To intend means to have as one's purpose or objective.
What is your intention this year?
One of my intentions this year,
Go figure,
Is to be more intentional.
To live with more purpose.
Even as a mindfulness teacher,
It's difficult at times to be fully present to my life.
I am human too,
And sometimes I get caught up in the doing and the busyness of life.
I can sometimes miss things,
Beautiful things,
And I don't always remember where I put my keys.
But this year,
I am committing to doing less of that.
Less unconscious decisions,
Less unconscious living,
Less busyness.
And if you're listening to this,
Maybe this is what you want for yourself as well.
I've been asking myself a few questions here recently.
One of them being,
What would it mean to live intentionally?
To be intentional in each moment.
To be mindful and fully present to this one life we have all been gifted.
How powerful could we all be in our lives?
What would be possible for me if I truly,
Fully paid attention?
If I fully noticed,
And if I saw myself and others for their beauty and their uniqueness.
This is what I want for all of us.
Now if you haven't already,
Slowly bringing yourself to a nice comfortable seat.
Maybe even inviting in the question,
What would it look like to sit intentionally?
To sit with intention.
Taking these next moments here to breathe.
Breathing intentionally.
Breathing with purpose.
What does that look like?
Connecting to the presence of the breath.
You cannot take a past breath and you cannot take a future breath.
Taking this breath right here means that you arrive in the now,
In the present.
Continuing to breathe with intention.
However you define that for yourself.
Breathing fully intentionally in through the nose and out through the nose.
Maybe your breaths become fuller,
More expansive.
They become slower.
Continuing to breathe with intention,
Inviting your whole body,
Your whole being into this present moment.
Now taking your hands in prayer position at your heart space.
Thumbs pressed gently to your sternum.
Feeling into the rhythm of your breathing heart.
And repeating to yourself here.
Today I choose to live intentionally.
Today I choose to be guided by my heart.
Take a breath here,
Breathing in.
Slowly and intentionally breathing out.
Now drawing your thumbs up to third eye center,
Hands still in prayer position.
Repeating after me.
Today I choose to listen to my intuition.
Today I choose to pay attention to the whispers of my soul.
Take a breath here.
Now drawing your hands in prayer position up overhead.
Today I choose to connect with my deep purpose and meaning.
Today I choose to allow the universe to live through me.
Take a nice big inhale here,
Reaching the fingertips even higher up toward the sky.
And as you exhale slowly intentionally feeling every movement of your body drawing the hands back down to heart center.
Today I set the intention to live mindfully.
To be fully present to my life.
To feel into my body.
To feel my emotions.
To connect with my soul.
Today I intentionally choose to experience my life wholly.
And all the beauty this life has to offer.
And so it is.
