Good morning,
Meditators,
And welcome to this perfect start to your morning meditation.
You know,
Too often,
When the alarm clock goes off in the morning,
We hit snooze a gazillion times or literally drag ourselves out of bed.
Or maybe we're even filled with dread about going to work or already feel weighed down by the day ahead.
This quick and simple meditation will help you start off your day on a positive note,
Allowing yourself to ground deeply into your joy.
This meditation is great to do while you're still lying in bed.
Just don't fall asleep again,
Okay?
Let's start just bringing in some mindfulness,
Some presence,
Waking up to this brand new day.
Take the next couple moments to just notice maybe the warmth of your bed.
Maybe noticing the softness of your sheets.
Maybe noticing the weight of the blankets on your body.
The smell of your pillow.
The dance of light on the bedroom walls.
The deep relaxation you feel in your body from a good night's sleep.
Notice how awesome your day is already starting off in this cozy bed of yours.
Next,
Let's bring in some gentle movement by taking a big stretch.
I like to call this that good morning stretch,
Reaching the arms up and overhead,
Pointing through the toes,
Maybe rolling out the ankles,
Rolling out the wrists.
I'm paying special attention to any parts of the body that might be feeling a bit tight.
And work to open up those areas by continuing to stretch and move in whatever way you'd like.
And if you'd like,
I encourage you to maybe even roll around in your bed for a moment,
Rolling from side to side,
Feeling into the body,
Bringing in that gentle,
Maybe even playful movement.
And when you feel ready,
Coming back to lying on your back,
Place one hand on your heart,
One hand on your belly.
With the eyes closed here,
Bring to mind what you are grateful for in this brand new day.
What are you grateful for in this very moment?
Maybe an image comes to mind or a word or a feeling.
Whatever it is,
Continue seeing,
Feeling,
Being with that sense of gratitude.
Take a couple of breaths here,
Breathing in that gratitude,
Feeling it in your body.
Next,
Let's set your intention for your day ahead.
Maybe your intention is simply to have a good day.
Maybe your intention is to be present or to focus on gratitude or,
My personal favorite,
To have fun.
Your intention comes to mind,
Say it either out loud or to yourself now.
Take one more deep breath in right here,
Breathing in through the nose,
Breathing all the way down into the belly.
And exhale to let it go.
You have now officially started off your day on the best possible note.
Take a moment to thank yourself for being here and for already meditating today.
I hope you have a wonderful day,
Meditators.
Namaste.
