Welcome to this powerful meditation on releasing and letting go of the past.
Today we are going to put down all of the baggage that we are carrying with us,
So we can start fresh,
New,
And we can step into our future feeling more light,
With more clarity,
And more trust and ease.
Sometimes the things that happened to us in the past tend to stick with us,
Unless we address them,
Unless we address these feelings,
Our baggage,
We keep carrying them with us,
And they can really weigh us down,
Hold us back,
And block us from moving forward.
It's like you're doing a long hike,
And either you are carrying a backpack that's filled with heavy rocks,
Which makes your hike so much more difficult,
Or either you stop along the way,
Take a look at the rocks that you don't want anymore to carry with you,
And put them down,
And continue your hike with a lighter baggage.
And maybe you are carrying with you bitterness,
Angriness,
Grudges,
Fear,
Shame,
Guilt,
Depression.
All of these emotions are unpleasant,
Uncomfortable,
But they are valid,
And also here for a reason.
So today we are going to address these,
Take a good look at it,
And do a spring clean in our bodies.
This practice will help you to release the weight and heaviness of the past,
And to help you focus on what's ahead of you.
So let's begin.
Get yourself into a comfortable position.
I would recommend laying down for this practice.
As we're going deep today,
Gently close your eyes.
Put one hand on your heart,
Your right hand,
And put your left hand on your belly.
And start breathing in deeply into your lower belly.
Notice how your hand rises and falls with each inhale and each exhale.
Notice how not only your lower belly moves,
But you are breathing with your whole entire body.
When you inhale,
The cold air enters through your nostrils.
Feel the cold air on the inside of your nose,
Moving through the inside of your lungs,
Going all the way down into your lower belly.
And as you exhale,
Notice how the warm air now travels from your lower belly to your stomach and your chest,
Out through your mouth or your nose.
Notice how your body is gently moving,
But yet it's also still.
Turn your attention inward now,
In your own mind space,
Releasing any outside distractions.
And if there is a thought that takes your distraction away,
Gently acknowledge that your attention has drifted off and bring it back,
Back into your own mind space,
Into your body,
Back to your breath.
Now visualize yourself in a beautiful,
Lush,
Green forest.
It's a beautiful,
Sunny day.
And with every step you take,
You can smell this fresh forest smell.
You can hear the birds chirping.
You can feel the sun touching your skin and the air caressing your skin.
You are fully equipped for this walk in nature.
You are wearing hiking shoes and you have a backpack.
This backpack is incredibly heavy and it's making your walk a little bit challenging.
You notice some back pain.
You notice you're breathing more heavily.
And just when you want to give up and turn around,
Go back home,
You see something through the trees.
It's a beautiful,
Wide field of grass and flowers.
But you see something else.
As you walk towards this field,
You hear a sound.
You witness a beautiful,
Grand,
Hot air balloon that's ready to take off.
You notice this hot air balloon is tied up with a knot and there is nobody around.
And out of curiosity,
You walk closer and closer to this hot air balloon.
And as you walk closer and arrive at the hot air balloon,
You realize that this is your chance to say goodbye to all of the heavy things that are weighing on you.
And you finally take off your heavy backpack and you put it on the ground.
You open your backpack for the first time in a very long time and you realize how much you have been gathering.
How many rocks you have been carrying with you.
And these rocks represent things from your past that you are ready to let go of.
This can be an emotion,
An event,
A person,
A feeling.
And you start taking out the very first rock.
The biggest one.
The heaviest one.
And you see that there is a name written on this rock.
A name of the biggest and first thing you want to let go of.
And you get a little flashback of the events that triggered this feeling,
Emotion of the hurt that happened.
But you feel like it's time to let this go.
And that you want to release yourself from this.
You take this big heavy stone out of your backpack and you rest it on the ground knowing that this is goodbye.
Now you go back to your backpack and you take out the second biggest and heaviest stone.
And you also see the name written on here.
And you remember again where this is coming from and why.
Most importantly,
Why you want to let this go.
Why this is holding you back.
You take it out of your backpack and you put it with the first stone.
Now you take out the third stone and you look at its name.
And you witness its size.
And you also remember here where this is coming from and how much hurt and heaviness this is causing you by carrying it with you.
And in what way this is blocking you from moving forward.
Maybe it's even sabotaging you.
It's keeping you small.
Keeping you safe.
But it's giving you a false sense of safety.
Because in our comfort zone,
In staying where it's familiar,
There is no place for growth.
So you decide to also take out this stone and put it on the floor.
Let it go.
Now in your own time and space,
Take out any remaining stones out of your backpack.
In what ways you are playing small.
Holding yourself back.
Carrying too much baggage with you.
And sometimes holding on does more damage than letting go.
You keep on emptying your backpack until it's completely empty.
And your backpack is empty and you are feeling much lighter now.
It's time to cut ties completely with the past.
As you take a look at all those rocks and stones on the ground,
You turn around and you untie the knot of the hot air balloon.
And you enter in the basket of the hot air balloon with your backpack on your back,
Feeling fresh,
New and much lighter than before.
And as the hot air balloon takes off,
You see the stones and the rocks becoming smaller and smaller as you fly further and further away from them.
It feels like you are seeking out a new country,
New land,
New possibilities.
And as you gaze upon the horizon,
You see the sunset now.
The sky is painted with beautiful,
Vibrant colors.
And you see the clouds gently drifting by.
And in the horizon,
A vision starts coming up and you see your new future ahead of you so brightly.
It's like a movie is being played in the clouds.
Images flash you by.
You see the people you are surrounding yourself with.
You see how you are spending your time,
How you are serving in this world what your purpose is.
And you see any other plans you've got for the future.
It feels achievable.
You feel confident because you've let go of so much that was weighing you down and that was stopping you from flying higher.
But now in this hot air balloon,
You are flying high,
Free,
Light,
Floating through the sky.
Keep visualizing this future and notice how it feels.
Focus on all the emotions.
Not just how it looks like,
But how do you wish to feel and move through your day.
Gently let this image fade away and bring yourself back into your body.
Back into this room,
Realizing that you are on a constant journey towards improving yourself,
Towards reaching the next goals,
Taking action on the next steps.
And this is life.
A constant evolving,
A constant growth,
A constant unlearning and letting go of what we used to hold on to.
And it's letting go so that we can fly higher and receive more and give more back to the world.
And as you gently come back into your body and into this room,
Bring awareness to your breath.
Bring awareness to the sound that you can hear in your room.
And whenever you feel ready,
You can gently start moving your fingers and your toes.
Move your wrists and your ankles in circles.
And now in the opposite direction.
And whenever you feel ready,
You can gently open your eyes and come back into this space.
