Welcome!
This is another track about coming home to yourself in some of the ordinary moments of your day that have a tendency to pull you away from yourself.
So this is for the time when maybe everything is feeling rushed or feeling faster than usual or maybe you're starting to feel the beginnings of the anxiety coming on and you don't know why.
I encourage you to go to a sink and if you don't have a sink you can close your eyes and imagine yourself going to a sink.
You might find yourself in these ordinary moments while you're washing the dishes or you're just leaving the bathroom or you just feel like washing your hands and of course this is beautiful for that as well.
Just go over to that sink.
This isn't a grand moment.
We don't have to fix everything afterwards.
It's just a small pause that reminds us that we are in our body.
We're coming home to ourself.
Let's go ahead and turn the water on.
You could turn on cold water or warm water.
I personally like cold water.
Put your hands in the water underneath the stream of water coming through the faucet.
Bring your awareness to your hands while they're under that stream of water.
Is it warm or cool?
Did you put the water on high and it's really rushing toward your hands or did you put it on a slow drip?
You feel each drop on your hands and your skin.
Let yourself really notice the sensation.
Even close your eyes for a minute.
Put all your awareness in your fingertips as they are under that stream of water.
Water on your hands,
Contact with your skin,
The simple fact of touch.
Let your breath slow while your hands are in this water.
Just inhaling and exhaling.
Feel the water,
Temperature,
The way it moves past your skin.
Inhale exhale.
Maybe allow your fingers or your palm to move under that water.
To allow the water to touch different areas of your hand in different ways.
And just put all your awareness,
All your curiosity right on that place where the water meets the skin.
Breathe again.
Maybe you can open up your ears for a minute.
Listen to the water.
Listen to how it sounds coming out of the faucet.
Listen to how it sounds as it meets with your skin.
And notice that when you move your hand under the water,
The water's path changes so the sound changes.
For a minute open your eyes and watch the water run across your skin.
This is a real moment.
This is real.
This is your body interacting with an element of water.
And exhale.
Maybe you want to take a moment to dry your hands,
Turn off the faucet,
Or imagine drying your hands and turning off your faucet.
Bring a hand to anywhere in your body that's calling.
You know sometimes the nervous system returns through contact,
Through sensation,
Through warmth,
Through being reminded that you have a body and your body is here.
And we're noticing it with our eyes and our ears and our skin,
Right?
So maybe there's a part of your body that's calling for touch right now.
Maybe it's your heart.
Maybe it's your cheeks or your eyes.
Just gently putting your palms over your eyes.
Maybe you want to give yourself a small hug.
Feel that pressure of a small hug.
Just say inwardly to yourself with your hand on your body,
I am here.
I do not have to carry everything at once.
I am here.
I am real.
I am.
I am that I am.
Let your jaw soften.
Let your shoulders drop.
Maybe ask yourself quietly,
What can I soften just a little bit more?
Take a breath.
Exhale.
One more breath.
Inhaling and exhaling.
Just a small moment in your day.
A moment that brings you back to your body.
A moment that brings you back to the realness of who you are in the moment.
Not what's asking for you.
Not what you have to do.
Not what you have done.
Not what is out there that you have to approach,
Right?
This is just you.
This is the truth.
I am that I am.
I am present.
One more breath.
Let it out.
And then you can continue with what's in front of you.
Just a little bit more inside of yourself.
A little bit more inside yourself than you were before.
