As you settle into your bed,

Allow your body to be fully supported beneath you.

There's nowhere to go and nothing to do.

Imagine you're lying near the ocean at night.

The air is cool and soft.

The world is quiet.

You begin to notice the sound of the sea.

Waves slowly rolling in.

And gently pulling back.

Let your breath begin to follow that rhythm.

Inhale like a wave rising towards the shore.

Exhale like the water drifting back into the ocean.

With each wave your body softens a little more.

Feel your forehead smooth.

Your jaw loosen.

Your shoulders melt down and away from your ears.

The sound of the sea continues.

Steady,

Patient,

Unhurried.

Nothing is expected of you.

Each exhale carries you deeper into rest.

As if the tide is slowly rocking you to sleep.

If thoughts come,

Let them float like driftwood.

Noticed then carried away by the water.

You are safe.

You are held.

You are allowed to rest.

Let the waves breathe for you now.

As you drift gently,

Quietly into sleep.
