Welcome to Resting Beside the Tree.
Find your comfy space warm and cosy and gently close your eyes.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and a long easy breath out.
Just allow your shoulders to soften,
Your jaw,
Let it unclench.
The muscles around your eyes are beginning to relax.
There is nowhere else you need to be right now,
Just this moment,
Just this breath.
And as your breathing becomes slower and softer,
Just see yourself standing in a quiet natural place.
It's such a peaceful landscape,
It's calm and open at the edge of a forest.
The air is fresh and gentle around you and now in front of you stands a beautiful tree.
It's a tall steady tree that has been growing here for many years.
Its trunk is strong and grounded,
Its branches they are stretching wide and gracefully into the sky.
The leaves are moving softly in the breeze.
Just take a moment here to simply observe this tree.
Its quiet presence,
Its calm strength.
This tree,
It has seen many seasons,
The sunlight and the rain,
The storms and the stillness.
And through all of it,
Here it is remaining rooted and steady.
You slowly walk towards the tree,
Feel the ground beneath your feet,
Each step you take is gentle and unhurried.
You now reach the base of this tree and you might wish to sit beside it or just rest your back softly against the trunk.
Just notice how solid and supportive this tree feels,
As if it is quietly holding space for you.
Take a slow breath in here and as you breathe out,
Just allow your body to lean comfortably against the tree.
You are feeling so supported,
You are held,
You are safe.
Now you see that the roots of this tree are reaching deep into the earth below,
Far beneath the surface.
These are strong,
Steady roots spreading wide through the soil.
And these roots,
They are drawing nourishment and stability from the earth itself.
And as you rest here beside the tree,
You visualize that some of that steady calm is beginning to flow toward you.
It's like a gentle grounding energy.
Slowly it's moving upward through the roots,
Into the trunk and then quietly into your body.
Now with each breath,
Just allow your nervous system to soften.
It's as if the tree is sharing its calm rhythm with you,
Breathing in and breathing out.
Just see that your own breath is beginning to match the quiet rhythm of this beautiful tree.
Slow,
Steady,
Unhurried.
Because trees,
They never rush.
They grow patiently.
They rest deeply.
They move gently with the seasons.
And here,
Beside this tree,
You are being invited to do the same.
To pause,
To reset,
To release anything that your body has been holding.
It might be tension in your shoulders,
Perhaps worries in your mind.
Now just allow them to gently flow downward into the roots of the tree.
Because this is where the earth can hold them.
The earth can transform them.
And with every slow breath out,
You feel your body becoming so much lighter.
It's calmer,
More settled.
And now this tree remains steady beside you,
Quietly grounded.
It's a reminder that strength does not need to be tense.
It can be soft,
Stable,
Peaceful.
Now you notice a soft breeze moving through the branches above you.
The leaves,
They rustle gently.
It's a calming sound.
The breeze caresses your cheeks.
This is nature breathing.
And as you listen,
Your own breath continues to slow.
Your nervous system is settling,
Resetting.
It's returning to its natural balance.
Let's take a few moments now to just simply rest here beside the tree and just breathing slowly.
Feel the calm presence of nature around you.
Beautiful.
Now when you feel ready,
Just begin to bring your awareness gently back to your body.
Notice the rhythm of your breath.
Feel the surface supporting you.
You can gently roll your shoulders if that feels good.
Stretch and slowly open your eyes.
And just remember that as you return,
The calm of the tree is something that you can return to any time.
This is a place of quiet strength,
Of grounding,
Of reset.
So let's just take one more slow breath in and a long gentle breath out.
Just carry this sense and feeling of calm with you as you move through your beautiful day or evening.
Namaste,
My friend.
