Welcome to this sleep meditation.

Let's prepare for a beautiful restful sleep.

But before we start,

I'd like to invite you to remember how it feels to be deeply rested.

The vibration of rest is already within you.

You wouldn't be here if you'd never rested before.

It's there.

Perhaps you've just forgotten.

So let this memory of being deeply rested signal to all the cells in your body that it's time to rest again.

Begin to lie your body down with care as though you are tucking yourself in with love.

Make your space cozy with your favorite blankets and pillows,

Perhaps lighting some incense that feels calming or a drop of essential oil that signals a sense of rest and relaxation like lavender,

Jasmine,

Sandalwood or frankincense to let your whole being know that it's safe to slow down.

It's safe to rest and sleep.

Take a deep breath in and as you do,

Stretch your body in all directions.

Stretch your arms above your head.

Point your toes and pause your breath gently at the top and then exhale and relax your body.

Let it go limp like a rag doll.

Again,

Breathe in deeply,

Stretch your body out.

Pause your breath,

Stretch a little more and then breathe out.

Let go of your day.

One last time,

Breathing in deeply,

Pause gently at the top and then exhale and wriggle into your favorite sleeping position.

Take one last deep sigh out and let everything melt into your bed.

Know that you are safe at any time.

You're welcome to drift off to sleep.

Release all efforts to make anything happen.

Your body knows exactly how to rest and sleep.

And gently place your awareness into the center of your chest,

Your heart center and breathe in and out through your heart.

Connect to the rhythm and quiet beat of life within you.

And let your heart soften and open.

Feel the space of your heart held in love,

Compassion and a sense of appreciation.

And then imagine a tiny,

Soft,

Glowing light moving from the heart space up towards the crown of your head.

And this glowing light spreads gently down through your brain,

Balancing both hemispheres and calming the mind.

Now this light touches the space between your eyebrows.

Feel the skin around your brows and your eyes soften.

As this warm,

Glowing light spreads and flows back towards your midbrain and the pineal gland deep inside the middle of your brain,

Right between the two hemispheres.

It's where melatonin is released and guiding your body into the rhythms of sleep.

This restful glow flows down through the back of your head towards your spine,

Starting at the throat and lifting down towards your shoulders,

Your upper arms,

Elbows,

Forearms and wrists.

This restful glow of healing light spreads into your hands and fingers,

Right into the tips of all your fingers and thumbs.

And then this light flows back up again,

Spreading across the shoulder blades,

Through the upper back,

The back of the heart,

And then wrapping around towards the front of your chest.

This restful glow of light circles around the torso,

Soothing every organ within.

It spirals down into the pelvis,

Belly,

And hips,

Sensing this warm light flowing down both legs,

Calves and shins,

And ankles,

Into the feet and toes.

And this restful light has spread into every cell of your body,

From toes to head,

Every cell receiving this rest elixir.

And then spreading out and around the physical body,

A few inches,

Creating a cocoon of soothing light,

A protective layer around the body,

And within this cocoon,

You are safe,

Calm and held.

Sense the body dissolving and withdrawing from the physical world,

Drifting off into a dreamscape of sleep.

Just the soothing breath now.

On the inhale,

Expanding into sleep space.

On the exhale,

Resting back,

Letting go,

Sinking deeper,

Nothing left to do,

Just be light as a feather,

Resting deeply now,

To sleep.
