When we are in chaos and overwhelm,
It's hard to think,
Concentrate and make decisions.
It causes a stress response in the body which creates even more chaos and overwhelm.
And so becomes a vicious cycle.
So it's really important to find a bit of space,
Calm and stillness to break that overwhelming cycle and we can then begin to function again.
So when you do get into that space of chaos and we all do sometimes,
Remember that it is the breath that is your anchor.
So whenever things are getting chaotic around you or within you,
You can take a breath,
Exhale and find the ground beneath you.
Find that support of whatever you are standing,
Sitting or lying on.
Feel anchored,
Grounded,
Centered and present.
If you do that a few times,
You'll feel those swirls outside and inside start to slow down and things get a little bit clearer.
If you do that and then take a bit of time in gratitude,
The whole world shifts.
It's flipped upside down.
So anchor yourself,
Practice gratitude and then move from that space and you'll find things very different to the chaos you started in.
So let's do that together now.
Wherever you are,
Just soften and witness the breath for a moment.
Focus on taking that exhale right down into the ground,
Wherever the body connects to the ground or the surface you are on,
Just exhale into it.
Feel the support beneath you.
You are always supported by the ground.
Allow yourself to be supported.
Let yourself feel grounded and anchored.
Feel yourself centering as you breathe.
Becoming present to the breath and to this moment.
Let yourself be salts from hell.
And now start to think of all the things that you are thankful for.
Just list those things in your mind,
No matter how big or small they are,
Keep listing them.
Allow those things to expand as to why you are thankful.
Be thankful for the breath,
For the ground,
For the chaos that means you are alive and living,
For the calm that is always just a breath away,
Right there within yourself.
And just take as much time as you need with the breath and with gratitude until you feel ready to move forward with your day from this place of calm.
Remember you can use this technique whenever you want.
Whenever you need and as many times as you need.
And when that voice whispers to you that you are not strong enough to withstand the storm,
Remember to reply I am the storm.
Namaste.
