When we're kids,
Everything is just so perfect.
Literally everything.
The only thing we worry about is that maybe we haven't been with mom and dad for enough time.
But other than that,
We see the world from a different perspective.
We actually enjoy a walk in the park.
We actually look at everything.
Everything in our eyes glow.
But we tend to grow up.
And I don't believe it,
But it's true.
We want to grow up.
We want to grow up and forget how marvelous it is to be a kid.
And that's one of the seven principles or main principles of mindfulness,
Which is beginner's mind.
Being able to see the world from a different perspective through a kid's eye.
Being able to look at a tree and admire it.
Hug it.
Look at the leaves.
Look at the details.
Look at all those different colors.
I mean,
A tree is not just brown and green.
But when we grow up,
It is.
And that's how our life becomes brown and green.
There are no shades of green.
There are no shades of brown.
It's just brown and green.
And we tend to forget that no tree is the same.
But when we're little,
We ask,
What's that?
And her parents say,
Oh,
It's just a tree.
It's just a tree.
I mean,
All the trees around us are different.
They all have different powers.
They are not the same.
And we forget to enjoy that walk in that park.
We forget to look at the grass.
And you know the worst part is?
We're embarrassed to take off our shoes and touch the grass and become one with the grass.
And we just forget to enjoy those simple things in life.
We forget our inner child.
We forget that we are kids.
There's a kid inside us.
And it wants to play.
It wants to be a kid.
It wants to enjoy all those little things.
But we're stuck in this nine to five job,
Working all day.
And after we finish,
We're on the computer.
We're on the phone.
We're doing something else.
But we forget to live.
Sometimes I even forget to say things for my day.
Even if I had a great day,
I'm stuck on the bad things because I forgot to enjoy the little things.
I forgot to enjoy that food.
I forgot all those wonderful blessings that I had had during the day.
Don't forget the little things.
And I challenge you to do it.
I challenge you that when you're driving,
Become amazed at what you're doing.
I mean,
Look what you're doing.
You're driving.
And it's so incredible that we can do it in an automatic pilot without even realizing when we turn left,
When we have to turn right,
When we go straight,
When we pay a toll,
Nothing.
So the next time you get in your car and you have to drive,
Enjoy it.
Enjoy what you're doing.
Enjoy the fresh air.
And if you don't want to pull down your window,
Enjoy the air conditioning.
Enjoy your drive.
Enjoy it.
And if it's a walk in the park,
Enjoy the trees,
Enjoy the grass,
Enjoy the kids laughing.
Enjoy it.
And if it's raining,
Enjoy it.
Take a moment to feel that rain coming down,
Touching your skin.
Take a moment to live.
Live like a kid.
Get surprised like a kid.
Laugh like a kid.
Be in awe like a kid.
Don't let your adulting duties change you.
Don't let them prevent you from living.
Remember,
Or I don't know how you're going to react to this,
But life is so simple and so easy.
And we just complicate it.
So promise yourself after listening to this,
You will enjoy at least one activity in your day tomorrow.
Thank you so much for listening.
Sending you lots of virtual love and light.
Namaste.
