Hey and welcome to this Harry Potter themed meditation.
I'm Cyrus,
Not to be confused with Serious Black,
And you're here because you love Harry Potter and you want to bring more of those vibes into your life.
Maybe you just finished binging all eight movies,
Maybe you actually read a book,
Or maybe you're a hardcore Potterhead and you had a Harry Potter themed wedding.
In any case,
This meditation is great for shifting into a new reality,
Blending it with our own,
And seeing and capturing the magic that's present in our life,
Creating it everywhere we go,
And of course actually sinking into the magical world of Hogwarts to achieve that effect.
So without further ado,
Let's get started.
Take a moment to put your muggle technological devices on Do Not Disturb or eliminate any other distractions.
You can either lie down and close your eyes,
Or you can sit upright in a chair with your eyes open on a spot in front of you,
Or your eyes closed.
Whatever feels intuitively correct to you.
Just make sure you're really alert and awake in whatever position you're in.
That's what's most important.
Now that you've settled into a final comfortable position,
Begin by committing to total physical stillness,
As though you've just indirectly seen the eyes of the basilisk,
Except for breathing and blinking if your eyes are open,
Allowing those to flow naturally.
Or perhaps you can just imagine you've been petrificus totalist if that's a little bit less scary than the basilisk option,
But in any case,
Just remember to breathe and relax as the body remains still.
Now take three slow deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth,
Like you're breathing underwater,
And you've taken gillyweed and you have gills on your neck.
So,
Really take your time and slow the rhythm of your breath down to match the depth of the ocean.
And now that your breath is flowing a little bit more fully and you're a little bit more relaxed,
Set your intention like a magical spell that you're planting in your subconscious,
A hidden dragon easter egg that will hatch later when you least expect it.
Ask yourself,
What do you most want to get out of this practice?
And now repeat that like an affirmation,
Like a magical spell three times in the present tense in your mind.
Now let's begin with a wide open relaxed focus on the ambient sounds around us.
Listening like you're listening to the din of the great hall at Hogwarts on a relaxed Sunday afternoon.
Allowing those subtle sounds to anchor you deeper and deeper into the moment.
Now allow your tongue to drop to the floor of your mouth and allow your attention to drop even further into your stomach,
Starting to feel how you feel and focusing on that feeling in the stomach without resisting it or trying to change it.
And treat the emotions you're feeling like devil's snare.
If you resist them,
You'll only get more tangled up.
But if you relax,
Then like Hermione,
You'll be able to get more tangled up.
But if you relax,
Then like Hermione,
You'll drop into that deeper state of awareness.
So remember,
Don't be wrong,
Be Hermione and allow yourself to feel what you're feeling.
And now that you've relaxed and you're sitting more comfortably with the emotions,
Just take a couple slow deep breaths and let the emotions flow out of your body.
Whatever's not serving you as much of it as you can just set that intention to let it go.
Breathing it out,
Feeling the electricity of the emotions coursing out of you,
Surrendering them and becoming lighter and more effortlessly free.
Now gently,
Firmly bring your attention to your thoughts,
But begin to listen to them like you're listening to someone else's voice,
Just a character.
Just sit and listen to the story that the character is telling you in the form of these thoughts.
Notice the tone behind the thoughts,
Whether it's a grouchy,
Mad-eye moody or a bragging,
Prideful,
Gilderoy Lockhart or whatever character your thoughts are embodying right now,
Just let the drama play out and maintain distance from it as you listen without judgment.
Now the more we simply watch and let go of our thoughts without getting drawn into them,
The closer we get to detaching from our ego.
So treating our ego's interior wall as being as porous as platform nine and three quarters,
We just have to make a conscious choice to break through to the other side by watching and letting go a little while longer.
So continuing to watch without getting tangled up or following the thoughts for a few more moments,
Sticking with it and you will separate and get into the magical world on the other side.
We're almost there,
Just continuing to watch your thoughts now with a heightened concentration for a few more moments with the goal of not letting a single thought slip past you without watching it for just a few more moments.
