This practice is a powerful opportunity to shift from the energy of doing, striving, and trying towards a more gentle feeling of receiving. When we slow down and learn to receive from ourselves, others, and the world in which we live we cultivate a quiet inner strength and sense of connection. It's a beautiful reminder that we are not alone and that we can be held and supported by others and our natural world.

A warm welcome to The Daily Insight.

My name is Fleur Chambers and as always it is my pleasure to spend this time with you.

In today's practice we shall turn our awareness to the powerful practice of receiving.

In our modern day culture where we are taught to be independent,

Self-sufficient and super capable,

The notion of receiving often makes us feel uncomfortable.

Perhaps we believe that to receive is a sign of weakness or neediness,

That it is in some way disempowering or an indication that we aren't coping with the demands of life.

Perhaps we confuse receiving with taking.

In truth,

Receiving is a sign of none of these things.

When we receive with an open heart we are far from disempowered.

We are in fact displaying an inner confidence and awareness that reveals our potential to see our lives as connected to others and the world in which we live.

When we intentionally cultivate this willingness to receive,

To receive love and support from others,

To receive our own ability to soothe and calm ourselves and to receive the gifts from our natural world,

We let down our guard,

We open up,

We soften,

We let go of the need to control everything and you know what,

It feels good.

So today's practice is an invitation to open into the gifts that emerge when we rest in the energy and space of receiving.

So settling in and closing down your eyes if you like.

And as your awareness begins to shift inwards,

Simply reminding yourself that right here,

Right now,

You are exactly where you are meant to be.

For the next little while you don't need to do or be anything for anyone.

You deserve this time to yourself.

You deserve this time to receive the gifts of this moment,

The gifts of your meditation practice.

Allowing your awareness to land on your breath.

Noticing its natural rhythm.

Air flowing in.

Air flowing out.

Chest rising.

Chest falling.

Noticing the more subtle parts of your body that are being moved by each breath.

Noticing your side body.

Your back body.

Noticing breath moving deep into your stomach too.

Each breath,

An invitation for your mind and body to come together in this moment.

And asking yourself,

Do I find it easy or hard to receive?

No need to analyse or judge.

Simply noticing what emerges for you.

And now,

With a warm hearted smile I ask you,

What gets in the way of you receiving more fully?

Breathing into this question.

Softening.

Opening.

Listening.

Perhaps you have a story about what it means to receive.

Maybe your desire to control the outcome of things gets in the way of your opportunities to receive.

Does needing to be capable play a part?

Or maybe your focus has just never been there.

Breathing into this awareness.

Each breath,

An invitation to see with fresh eyes.

Here,

In this moment,

There is an invitation to let go of whatever stands between you and receiving.

Long,

Smooth out-breath.

A real letting go.

From here,

We open up to receive.

Breathing by simply receiving each breath,

Almost as if each breath were a gift.

Each in-breath,

An opportunity to receive fresh oxygen.

To connect with your own sense of aliveness and vitality.

Each in-breath,

An opportunity to begin again with a sense of possibility and hope.

Can you feel it in your body?

Maybe all the way to your fingers and toes.

Each out-breath,

Long and smooth.

An opportunity to exhale carbon dioxide.

Each out-breath,

An opportunity to let go of physical tension and to soften into this moment.

Softening across your eyes,

Your jaw.

Softening your neck and shoulders.

Softening deep into your stomach too.

Body soft and at ease.

Each complete cycle of breath,

An invitation into the beauty of this moment.

And noticing what is here for you in this moment.

Is it peace?

Relaxation?

Presence?

Is there compassion or acceptance?

Receiving now this music,

Allowing each note to land in your awareness.

Allowing yourself to be moved by this music,

To receive this music.

Allowing yourself to be moved by this music,

To receive this music.

Allowing yourself to be moved by this music,

To receive this music.

Allowing yourself to be moved by this music,

To receive this music.

Bringing to mind now the season you are in.

How it looks and feels for you today.

Breathing in this season,

Opening up to the possibility of receiving the energy of this season.

Perhaps the hope and rebirth that is spring.

The energy and possibility of summer.

The quiet wisdom that is winter's gift.

Or the letting go of autumn or fall.

It feels good to connect with our natural world.

Here in this space of receiving,

Can you bring to mind a time when you receive from others.

Perhaps a small gesture of kindness,

Maybe a larger gesture of love or appreciation.

Bringing the details to mind and heart.

Really remembering how it felt to receive.

Breathing this reflection deep within you.

And connecting now with a time when you received your own wisdom,

Your own support or love.

Bringing the details to mind and heart.

Breathing them in.

And finally,

Receiving my best wishes for you.

Receiving my heartfelt hope that you are happy.

That you can be free of fear.

That you may live in peace.

Each day there are countless opportunities to receive.

Countless opportunities to be moved by a sense of shared connection.

This naturally opens us up to a whole hearted sense of gratitude.

For the sun that rises and sets in the sky.

For the flowers that bloom in spring.

The leaves that fall in autumn.

Gratitude for the simple laughter of friends and family.

For a hug that lasts longer than planned and feels better than you expected.

We feel grateful for the ability to forgive and to begin again each day.

Thankful for each precious opportunity to express ourselves freely.

For the personal growth that emerges from times of challenge.

For the love that rises from sadness.

We feel grateful for the way stillness speaks to us.

For each lesson nature offers us.

We feel grateful for our ability to come home to ourselves.

To receive our own deep wisdom each time we turn our focus inwards.

We receive it all with a relaxed body,

A steady mind and an open heart.

What would your life look and feel like if you really opened up to receiving?

What would there be more of?

What would there be less of?

Setting yourself an intention now for how you would like to open up to receiving in the coming days.

Sealing this intention with one full breath.

Rubbing your hands together.

Receiving your own warmth and placing them somewhere on your body that feels good for you.

Opening your eyes.

Returning your awareness to the space you are in.

And noticing if you are able to receive this space in a new way.

Perhaps with a sense of gratitude or acceptance.

Learning to receive is a powerful practice that cultivates a quiet inner strength and sense of connection.

It is a beautiful reminder that we can be moved by others and the world in which we live.

May you move through your days with this wisdom in your heart,

Body and mind.
