Hello and welcome.
This is your time now.
A time to rest,
To breathe and to let go of the day behind you.
You've done so much today.
Thinking,
Learning,
Playing,
Exploring.
But now your body and mind are ready for something else.
Peace,
Stillness,
Quiet,
Peace.
So let's get ready to drift into a different kind of adventure.
A night time journey.
Calm,
Magical and made entirely for you.
First take a slow breath in and gently let it out.
Again breathe in and breathe out.
Feel your body relaxing,
Your shoulders letting go,
Your eyes getting heavier,
Your mind beginning to float like a feather on the wind.
Tonight we're going to a place few people know about.
A secret that only appears when the world is quiet.
A place called the Midnight Library.
Imagine you're lying in your bed but something begins to happen.
The walls of your room start to fade,
The ceiling becomes the night sky and stars twinkle softly above you.
A gentle breeze touches your face and you notice something glowing in the distance.
A building,
Tall and graceful,
Made of stone and glass,
Lit by floating lanterns that dance silently in the air.
You walk toward it,
Calmly,
Without rush.
The doors are tall and carved with ancient symbols.
As you approach,
They slowly open,
Not with a sound but with a soft feeling,
Like a deep breath.
You step inside and there it is,
The Midnight Library.
This is no ordinary library.
Here the books are alive with dreams.
They don't just tell stories,
They become them.
The shelves stretch higher than the eye can see.
Ladders float gently from row to row.
Each book glows faintly,
As if lit from within.
A kind librarian greets you,
Tall,
Robed and wise.
They smile and say,
Welcome,
Traveller of the night.
This is a place where stories are chosen just for you.
Would you like to find yours?
You nod and they lead you to a section called the Shelves of Slumbering Tales.
There,
A single book floats toward you.
It's bound in deep blue velvet,
With stars embroidered on the cover.
Your name glows softly on the front.
You take the book and open it.
And instantly the world around you begins to change.
Suddenly you're no longer in the library.
You're in the middle of a glowing forest under the night sky.
The trees shimmer with silver leaves and a path of stardust stretches out before you.
A gentle creature appears,
A fox with fur that glows like moonlight.
It nods to you and says in a quiet voice,
Follow me,
The dream is just beginning.
You walk together under the stars,
Past rivers that sing and flowers that hum.
You cross a bridge made of light beams and pass through a gate made of mist.
In the distance you see a tower made of crystal,
Where dreams are stored like bottles of starlight.
You're told that inside is a special dream,
One that will help you find peace.
One that was meant for you alone.
As you climb the spiral staircase inside the tower,
You feel more relaxed with each step,
More sleepy,
More still.
At the top of the tower you find a room filled with glowing orbs.
Each one is a dream waiting to be lived.
The moon fox gently nudges one orb toward you.
Inside you see yourself,
Calm,
Strong,
Happy.
Flying across oceans,
Laughing with friends,
Resting in a field of wildflowers with nothing to worry about.
This is your dream,
The fox whispers,
Take it with you.
You hold the orb close and it melts into your heart,
Filling you with warmth and quiet joy.
The tower begins to fade,
The forest dissolves into mist and you find yourself back in the Midnight Library.
The librarian smiles once more.
You've chosen well,
They say,
You may return any time you wish.
The floating lanterns guide you gently to the door.
You step outside into the starry night and the library slowly disappears behind you,
Becoming part of the sky.
You're back in your bed now,
Soft,
Warm,
Safe.
You breathe in and breathe out.
The story is inside you now and your dreams are ready.
Your body is heavy and relaxed.
Your mind is quiet.
Your heart is light.
You are safe.
You are loved.
You are ready to rest.
Goodnight Dream Traveller.
The Midnight Library will always be there,
Just beyond the stars.
Sleep well,
Sweet dreams.
