Welcome friends.
Today's aspect of the Divine Feminine will be the Great Earth Mother.
We see this archetype in the Greek Goddess Gaia,
The Roman Goddess Terra and the beautiful Hawaiian Goddess Haumea.
These three Goddesses and indeed all forms of Earth Mother Goddess represent the ancestral mothers of all life,
The primal creators of animals,
Humans,
Plants.
For not only do they represent the Earth as a planet,
But the Earth beneath our feet,
The dirt,
The compost that creates somewhere for life to grow from.
In the Hawaiian legends of Goddess Haumea for example,
The story goes that each of her children were born from a different part of her body,
Her body being the Earth and her name Haumea means ruler of the red Earth.
Many Earth Goddesses were also Goddesses of childbirth and fertility and abundance.
So closely linked are all these beautiful elements of nature and our dependence on nourishment of the Earth and from the Earth.
We could not live,
We could not exist if it wasn't for Earth Mother,
If it wasn't for the Earth beneath our feet,
Both the planet and the soil.
We could not grow,
We could not grow food,
We could not build our homes.
Without Earth Mother there is nothing.
So it is always important both to express gratitude for Earth Mother and do all we can to protect her.
So my darlings for our meditation today,
I'm going to keep it lovely and simple as we honour the Earth.
So let's start as always by finding a comfortable place,
Somewhere you can rest comfortably.
If there is any possibility that you can rest comfortably in the Earth,
On the grass or on the sand outside,
Then please do do that.
But if not we'll just rest on carpet or floor,
Warm and comfortable.
As we allow the body to relax and settle,
As we take a little time with the Earth Goddesses,
And as we gently close the eyes we'll begin to allow the body to surrender into the Earth.
It is safe to let go.
The Earth Goddesses have you within their hands.
The Earth is solid and strong and can support you so it's safe to just let go.
Allow your body to surrender.
If it feels nice to do so you can take some nice deep inhales and sigh exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
And exhale.
And as we allow the body to relax and the mind to come to calm,
We'll take ourselves on a little journey in our mind's eye.
With bare feet standing upon soft green grass,
We find ourselves standing on a beautiful green hill overlooking a land of beauty.
From your hilltop you can see for miles and you can take in every beautiful element that the Earth Mother has to offer.
You can see lakes,
Streams and bodies of water.
You can see great fields of green and fields of crops,
Of corn and maize.
You can see great tall trees and maybe some blossoming fruit trees as well.
Flowers and shrubs.
And maybe you catch a glimpse of a few of the animals that are supported by this beauty and nature's bounty.
Take your time to draw in this beautiful patchwork quilt of colours and of elements of the natural world.
You may see before you scenes that you have seen from memory or imagination or whatever comes to your mind right now.
Take your time to take it in.
Maybe you smell the grass beneath your feet or the scent of blossoms in the air.
Maybe you feel a gentle breeze while standing atop of this hill.
Allow yourself to visualise this place.
So you feeling grounded and calm from your hilltop.
You feel drawn to descend the hill just a little.
And you notice as you drop down the slope that there is an entrance that runs underneath the hill.
And you are drawn to move away from the beautiful light and warmth around you and into the dark shadows of this entrance.
Even though it is dark,
It is also warm and you don't feel scared.
And as you enter the entrance to this space,
You smell the beautiful earthy scents of soil and earth and stone.
And this place feels very ancient,
Very safe.
You feel your bare feet move from soft grass to warm,
Soft earth.
You feel your feet and toes gently sink into the mud.
And as you walk into the place below the hill,
You see there are steps descending deep into the heart of the hill,
Deep into the heart of the land and deep into the heart of the earth.
You follow a passageway.
The space gets darker but also warmer as you move into this space under the hill.
The sounds and light of the outside world become muffled and fade.
You are brought into a space of complete quiet.
The corridor with which you are walking down widens as you come to the centre of this space under the hill.
There is light streaming down to this space and as you gaze upwards,
You see the roots of trees casting patterns through the earth like amazing stained glass windows made of roots.
And they cast a gentle light into this space.
And the earth and floor is warm and helps you feel rooted,
So safe under the earth,
Warm and sheltered.
And in this most simple of temples to the earth goddess,
You take a seat upon the earth.
And we take a few quiet minutes,
Just being with the earth,
Being with the goddess,
Being with the rhythm of our breath and our hearts and being in silence.
And having spent our few quiet minutes bathing in the silence and the warmth of the earth,
Whenever you feel ready to rise,
Once again your feet rest upon the earth and walking away from the space and through the corridors,
You once again enter back into the world of green grass and blue skies and trees and plants,
All the more grateful for both the light and the dark that the earth offers us and the abundance of beauty.
And when you feel ready to do so,
Feel free once again to take some nice deep inhales and exhales.
You can wiggle your fingers and toes as we gently open the eyes and come back to the world.
So my darlings,
You are welcome just to sit here wherever you are or lay here and rest.
But if you want to,
Your task for the end of this meditation is a simple one.
What I want you to do is take off your socks and shoes and I want you to walk on the earth.
If you are outside right now,
This will be very easy.
If you are currently inside,
Maybe take some time on your lunch break or this evening to just spend a moment with your feet in the earth.
So often we can spend days or weeks without ever really touching the ground.
We put on our shoes,
We drive to work,
We sit in carpeted offices.
To actually connect to the earth,
To ground to the earth is something we do very little now.
So your challenge after this meditation is to take just a moment to physically connect to Mother Earth and just enjoy the moment.
Enjoy this moment of connection with the ground,
With the earth,
With the dirt,
The mud and just see how that feels for you.
So thank you for joining me today my darlings.
I will see you soon.
