Okay so use this especially if you've come home from a difficult day.
I like to use these hand placements sometimes actually just when I'm in bed but you can do this setup that I'm doing right now where we've got you know nice mat,
I've got a cushion,
I've got a blanket.
I would actually say if you've the heavier the blanket the better because that weight can really just help with a bit of safety and reassurance when we're coming into these body practices.
But what we're going to be doing today is we're going to be doing hands and heart.
So this is where we're basically going to have one hand on the head and one hand on the heart and we're going to do that laying down so that you can really see how I would do this when I'm really trying to kind of soothe the body.
So find that position,
Take a little lay down on your pillow when you're ready and get that blanket.
It's okay if it's a bit light but like I say the heavier the better.
Almost just practice what it's like to really tuck yourself in like allow yourself to actually feel nice and safe and nice and supported.
So move around on the mat if you need to and on your bed if that's what you're needing and just find a nice comfortable position.
Now you can even do this in the middle of your day especially when you're feeling anxious,
Especially when you're feeling heightened.
Now what we're going to do is we're going to place one hand and we're going to put it on the top of the head and then we're going to place the other hand and we're going to put it over the heart allowing the knees to relax if your knees are bent and allowing the legs to relax if the legs are laying flat and feel that point of contact where your hands meet your head.
Feel that point of contact where your hand meets your heart and feel how soothing this can feel.
We're maybe almost recognising as we're laying here as the hand on the head is soothing we're saying I recognise there has been a lot of thoughts in my mind today and it's time now to release them.
It's time now to let them go and I recognise my hand is able to heal.
My hand is able to heal that energy in my head.
You might even feel your hand heating up as you do this.
So now with the hand to the heart I recognise that perhaps my heart has been feeling stuff today.
Perhaps I've been feeling a lot of emotions and I release now anything I'm holding on to and I soothe with so much compassion this area.
Breathing as you do this and depending on what's needed the most you might want to bring both hands now to that area.
So I'm just going to bring both hands actually to my heart.
So see what it's like to just lie down here and place both hands on your heart.
This is so protective,
So healing,
So soothing.
Feeling what it's like to feel up with compassion as you do this.
Well done,
Just almost drinking in that energy.
You might fall asleep like this or you might want to do this as part of a longer practice or even after a yoga practice.
When you're ready allowing the hand to fall back to your side.
So taking your time to just get back up.
As I say I'm doing that as a short practice but you go with whatever feels good to you and I will see you again in another practice.
