Scarlett works as a qualified therapist. What she teaches in this course is not just what she knows from her counseling training, but more importantly, what her clients have taught her over the years. She's worked with countless clients who have struggled with anxiety, OCD, and intrusive thoughts. She's also a meditation teacher and integrates this into her therapy work.

Lesson 1

There's Nothing Wrong With You

Intrusive thoughts are incredibly common. They will be a quick flashing thought or image, usually scary, fearful, worrying or embarrassing. They are things we don't want to happen. Let's normalise and understand them together. We'll set a goal today so you can be clear on where you want to get to throughout this journey.

Lesson 2

A Thought Is Just A Thought

One thing that really fuels intrusive thoughts is if we give them meaning and instantly believe them to be true. We'll learn today how to see thoughts as just thoughts. Usually, intrusive thoughts convince us that something which has a low chance of happening is almost certainly going to happen - let's challenge that together.

Overcoming The Fear

Fear is one of the biggest things that fuels intrusive thoughts. The more we fear them, the stronger they become. And I get it, they can be really scary. So let's learn how to take the fear out of them.

Lesson 4

Don't Push Them Away

Ever tried to bat off a wasp, only to find it comes back more revved up than before? That's exactly what intrusive thoughts do. The more you push them away, the worse they can become. The key here is we need to know how to not entertain the thoughts, but equally, not to push them away. I'll teach you exactly how to do that.

How To Best Respond To Them

Today you'll learn how to respond rather than react and why matching their speed can really help. We'll draw together everything you've learnt so far and watch how to respond to an intrusive thought in real time.

The Deeper Healing

Now you've got lots of techniques to manage intrusive thoughts, let's look at what might be happening on a deeper level. Unhealed trauma, nervous system regulation, all-or-nothing thinking - these can all be places where we might need further support. I'll help you to identify where you may benefit from healing going forward.
