There's an inner child in all of us. It's the part of ourselves that can feel scared and overwhelmed. So often, instead of soothing this child, we criticize it. We end up making it feel even worse. This is a soft and soothing practice to comfort your inner child when you're finding things tough. Move away from self-criticism and into validation with me. This is such a great way to build a strong sense of self-worth.

Sometimes we just need a few moments of being held and almost being spoken to in the way that our delicate and sometimes vulnerable inner child needs to be spoken to.

Often as adults we can come at ourselves with so much force and so much aggression and such little compassion and the problem with that is that we don't respond very well to that.

It never feels good.

So if you tend to criticize yourself a lot let's come into this space and let's soothe ourselves with the words that our inner child may well need to hear.

Think of it in this way it's like those words we needed to hear from a parent when we were little.

Maybe the words we either did hear from our parent if we had someone kind and loving around us or maybe the words we needed to hear.

It's the softness that we need to lean into.

So whatever day you're having today I want you to begin by just saying to yourself it's okay.

It's okay if I'm struggling today.

It's okay if I'm feeling frustrated today.

It's okay however I'm feeling.

Witness yourself.

Notice the feeling.

Can you validate that feeling?

You're human and we all have times like this.

Again it doesn't matter what it is that you're feeling or not feeling right now.

Just validate.

Just tell yourself okay that's how I feel.

Whether I think I should be feeling it or not it's how I'm feeling and that's okay.

It's totally okay you're feeling that way.

I think you're doing a lot better than you probably think you are.

So many people will have this tendency to be really hard on themselves and that's why I know you're probably doing a lot better than you think you are because you're here and you're listening to this and you're showing up in a space like this where you're looking after yourself.

So you probably are doing so much better than you think you are and you're probably being a lot harder on yourself than you need to be.

Things will get better.

It might just take a little bit of time but whatever you're going through at the moment it will get better.

It's not gonna stay like this forever because nothing does,

Nothing stays exactly the same forever.

You are gonna ride this out,

You are gonna move through this.

You're not alone,

You're never alone.

Even in those times where you feel you are,

You physically can't be alone because we're all connected on this planet.

We're all connected energetically,

We're all connected in so many different ways.

We are interwoven here and so many other people will be feeling what you're feeling right now in their own way so you're never ever ever alone.

Keep remembering that.

I want you to just now take a few moments to talk to yourself in your own mind however you would speak to a child if you was needing to soothe them.

You might be saying much of what I'm saying right now,

Of saying it's okay,

I've got you,

I'm here,

You're not gonna be feeling this forever,

This is gonna pass,

You're doing better than you think,

You're amazing,

You're wonderful,

You have so many good things going for you.

Whatever you need to hear,

I want you to practice doing this for yourself so take a few moments,

As difficult as it might feel,

To validate that inner child.

Well done,

I know that's not always easy but hopefully your inner child received some of those words and some of that nurturing.

I want you to try now to actually just wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself the biggest hug you could possibly give.

A little representation of compassion and love towards yourself.

Allowing in your own time your arms to just fall back by your side,

Rolling your shoulders back,

Blinking your eyes open,

Coming back to the space when you're ready.

Perfect I desperately needed this guidance this morning. I get brain locked in difficult times and can’t seem to access my inner resources when I most need them. Thank you πŸ™πŸΌ you have a gift that helped me drop into deep sadness today. The tears came and went and at least now I know what I’m sitting with. I have trouble moving into my adult self and re-parenting myself though. Maybe a meditation to help us make that shift?
