In this mindful moment, we will be connecting to the words of a beautiful poem (author unknown) as our anchor, allowing the body to be relaxed and calm (ventral vagal state). May these words resonate with your heart. Welcome to another simple practice.

Today I'm going to share with you a beautiful poem that I want you to connect the words on and if you're struggling please use your breath as an anchor.

So as always get yourself into a safe and quiet place,

Allow your body to settle in this moment the best it can,

Drop your shoulders down from your ears,

Find some stillness and if it feels good and safe to close down your eyes.

And starting with that ever-present anchor of our breath,

Breathing in and breathing out through the nose and just noticing its natural ebb and flow.

I'm gonna recite the poem twice and you are welcome to repeat the words after me as an anchor point or to listen and connect with your breath should your mind get distracted,

Which it inevitably will do.

So just watching that breath and allowing yourself to really take in these words.

Today I met a great new friend who knew me right away.

It was funny how they understood all I had to say.

They listened to my problems,

They listened to my dreams,

We talked about love and life,

They'd been there too it seemed.

They didn't interrupt me or need to have their say,

They just listened very politely and didn't go away.

And as I sat there quietly I realized with a start that this kind compassionate companion resides within my heart.

Very gently allow yourself to take a deep breath in through the nose,

Really expanding your lungs and your abdomen,

And then let it softly but fully exhale from the body.

Stay here for as long as you need or feel free to journal anything that comes up for you.

And of course when you're ready bring in some gentle movement,

Wiggle your fingers and toes,

Stretch,

Open your eyes and welcome yourself back into this beautiful day.

Thank you so much,

I hope to see you again here for another simple practice.
