This technique is one of my absolute favorites.

When you're going out for a walk,

Take yourself on a colour walk.

Use your everyday mindfulness technique whilst you're out moving around the world.

Whether that's picking up a sandwich for lunch,

Heading into the office,

Or actively going out for a walk after dinner,

It doesn't matter.

You can use this colour walk any time that you're out and about just to give yourself a moment of peace and to train that brain.

Remember,

When you get distracted,

Which is completely natural,

These everyday mindfulness techniques help you to come back and do a mental sit-up so that you can constantly train yourself to be more present and to be more here in your life,

Because we live it here in the present.

A colour walk,

Which is one of my absolute favorites,

As I said,

Is when you go out for a walk,

You choose a colour.

This could be any colour.

If you want an easy game,

Go for green.

If you're looking for something slightly harder,

Maybe a blue or something a bit more obtuse in nature.

This doesn't have to be done in the forest,

By the way.

This can be done just walking along the street.

Pick that colour,

And then as you're out and about,

Spot it.

Just go,

Oh,

There's blue over there.

Oh,

Look at that blue flower.

Oh,

Look,

Look.

And just in your head,

Point out every little bit of that colour that you see.

And because your mind will get distracted,

It's normal.

You're human.

When it does,

Go back to the question,

Oh,

Have I missed any blue?

Have I missed any yellow?

Have I missed my colour?

And just tune back in.

Tune back into the present and looking for that colour.

And then you're absolutely nailing this everyday mindfulness technique.

I promise you won't regret giving this one a try.

Intriguing! I’m going out for a color walk right now, with orange in mind. It’s winter in Iowa now, but I bet I can find some. How fun, and what a great challenge and skill practice method.
