This technique is one of my favourites because it brings gratitude to the space you are in right now or one you hold in your mind. Gratitude is wonderful to practice anytime, but it can be really nourishing when you are already feeling calm & relaxed (ventral vagal state). Enjoy! I am so grateful that you're here with me today.

So get yourself into a comfortable position.

Allow your body to settle into this moment.

Do whatever it needs just to get that 1% or 10% more comfortable.

Close down the eyes if it feels safe to do so,

Or take a nice gentle gaze.

And start by noticing your breath.

We don't need to judge it or change it.

We just notice its ebb and flow.

Grateful for its never-ending rhythm.

Now I want you to bring to mind a space or a scenario where you're surrounded by people.

I particularly like to do this one at Christmas.

So that you can bring any party,

Event,

Office space to mind.

It could even be the space that you're in right now.

And I want you to bring that to your mind's eye.

See all the details of it.

The chairs,

The colours,

The people,

Everything that's around you.

And I just want you to gently take your time to go around and say what you're grateful for.

So there might be a person that's done something to help you,

So you can say you're grateful for them.

It might be the presents under the Christmas tree,

And the joy that they spark in the kids around you.

It might be the comfort of a blanket that lives on the arm of a sofa.

It might be the laughter you hear from family members or colleagues.

Just take in that snapshot in time.

And actively work around it,

Finding all the things you're grateful for.

From the big things to the small.

From the people to the people around you.

From the big things to the small.

From the people,

The belongings,

The place,

And of course the experiences.

Just work around that image,

That snapshot in your mind,

Adding in all the things you're grateful for.

And continuing to look into the detail as I give you some space to do so.

And now,

Don't forget to include yourself in that gratitude snapshot.

You too are there in that space.

What are you grateful for about yourself?

Perhaps it was the kind and considerate thing you did for a family member.

Perhaps it's the energy that you bring to gatherings.

Perhaps it's your intelligence that helps you be a fantastic co-worker.

Take a moment just to add yourself into that gratitude snapshot.

Wonderful.

Take another deep breath if that feels soothing.

Bring any movement you need to start to wake your body up.

And gently bring yourself back into this day.

And perhaps before we finish,

You can just share one final gratitude.
