Hello I'm Richard Willis and welcome to your muscle relaxation technique for anxiety and stress.
During this guided meditation you'll progressively relax your body from head to toes to achieve a deep state of relaxation.
To begin sit or lie down and get yourself into a comfortable position ensuring the head and spine are aligned in a straight line and just take a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the nose.
Now allow your eyes to close and your breathing to return to its natural rhythm and imagine floating just above your head is a ball of positive energy,
Deeply relaxing energy.
Picture this now its shape and color and know that whatever this energy touches it relaxes.
Let it now float down until it touches the top of your head feeling a wave of relaxation spread out and down.
Spreading over the forehead and temples releasing any tension,
Relaxing your eyebrows and then your cheekbones.
Let that relaxing energy flow down,
Flow down the back of the head.
Now over the jaw letting the teeth part slightly and feeling all the facial muscles really relaxed allowing that energy to flow down the neck and shoulders allowing all the muscles to soften letting the weight of the shoulders drop towards the ground under gravity as the relaxing energy flows on relaxing your chest and back flowing down over the stomach releasing any abdominal tension softening allowing you to breathe freely and easily the energy flows down your arms relaxing the upper arm muscles the forearms the hands feeling pleasantly heavy where they rest relaxing all the way to the tips of the fingers the relaxing energy flowing further down the body relaxing the hips flowing down and releasing tension in the upper legs relaxing those leg muscles softening the knee joints slowly flowing down the lower legs relaxing the calf muscles softening the shins drifting down over the ankles along the feet and relaxing all the way to the tips of the toes leaving your body completely relaxed.
Spend some time now resting in this deep relaxation body relaxed and mind relaxed calm at peace well done now start to bring some movement back to the body moving the fingers and toes a bit and then open your eyes bringing with you that peaceful relaxation.
