Hello and welcome to this guided relaxation technique.

I'm Richard Willis and my voice will guide you in a simple calming practice,

A technique you can use to bring some calm moments into your day when you need them.

So settle yourself into a comfy position and begin by placing your hands on your stomach just below the center of your ribcage.

This is where your diaphragm is.

Just breathe normally now through the nose and if you look down you'll notice your hands moving.

Every time you breathe in you'll notice your hands move out.

When you breathe out the hands move back in.

Now just close your eyes and feel the movement of the hands as you breathe.

Add some extra energy to each inhale so that the hands move fully out.

Then feel the hands gently falling back as you exhale.

Do some more diaphragm breaths like this.

Inhale and push the hands out.

Exhale and let the hands gently fall back.

Well done.

Open your eyes bringing yourself back into your surroundings and know that you can use this technique with the hands or even without by resting your awareness on the diaphragm just whenever you feel the need to relax.
