Hello,
I'm Richard Willis and welcome to your woodland relaxation.
To begin with,
Find a quiet,
Comfortable place where you can relax.
You can do this sitting comfortably or lying down.
Just take a moment now to get into a position where you feel supported and comfy.
Before we begin the main relaxation,
We'll do a simple settler to relax the body and mind.
So allow your eyes to close,
Allow them to close and take some deep breaths in through the nose and out through the nose.
With each breath,
Really let go as you breathe out,
Like a sigh.
Imagine breathing out any tension.
Relax.
Letting go with each breath,
Then let your breathing settle into its own natural rhythm and notice how your body feels.
Become aware of the whole body.
Settling and resting,
Allow your muscles to relax.
Relax your brow and facial muscles.
Relax your jaw,
Releasing any tension.
Soften your neck and shoulder muscles.
Relax your arms and hands.
Relax your stomach muscles,
Allowing you to breathe freely and easily.
Relax your legs and feet,
Letting your whole body really relax.
And now,
Let your imagination drift,
Drift and allow a lovely scene to emerge.
Imagine that you're strolling on a path through some delightful woods.
You walk along a well-trodden path,
Feeling the soft soil beneath your feet.
Gazing around,
You can see the wide variety of trees around you.
Listening to the rustling of the leaves as a gentle wind caresses the treetops.
Enjoying the sound of birdsong,
The ground is soft beneath your feet and the temperature is just right for you and the sun is streaming through the canopy in rays of light all around you,
Illuminating the intricate details of bark and abundant foliage.
Listen to the sounds about you,
The orchestra of birdsong,
The whispering of leaves high above you as the treetops gently sway in the breeze.
As you walk,
Admire the colours of nature,
The huge variety of greens,
Dark greens and light greens.
Look at the diversity of the shapes of the leaves,
Gaze at the different bark textures.
Enjoy just being in nature,
Immersed in the moment,
Relax.
As you continue to walk along,
Notice the moving patches of light on the woodland floor as the sun's rays shift in a mesmerizing light show just for you and up ahead,
You notice sunlight pouring onto the path and as you approach the edge of the wood,
You emerge into the sunlight,
Feeling its warmth on your skin and observing a beautiful landscape of meadows before you.
Stop and take in the scene,
Sprawling,
Rolling hills of meadows,
Full of grasses and wild flowers,
So many different colours,
Their scent being carried on the breeze towards you,
You can see for miles.
Begin to cross the meadow in front of you,
Enjoying the feeling of gliding your fingers over the tops of the long grass,
Tuning into the voices of the birds as they continue to sing and the sound of the occasional breeze as it ripples through the grass.
As you slowly walk through the meadow,
You eventually reach its edge,
Where you easily climb over a fence using a wooden stile and enter a lush green field of short soft grass,
Where you can sit down and rest,
You are at the top of a small hill,
Where you can look down onto a wonderful view of meadows,
Fields and woods,
Fading all the way into the distance,
Look at the blue of the sky contrasting to the bright greens of the land and feel all the muscles of your body relaxing after your walk.
You can lie back now on the soft grass,
Supportive,
Comfortable,
Like nature's lounge chair,
Lie back,
Rest,
You can see the white clouds above you,
Slowly wandering on their journeys,
Ever so slowly,
With all the time in the world,
You can allow your mind to wander,
Like them,
Into all sorts of pleasant thoughts,
Relax,
Take in the moment in all its splendour,
The sights,
The sounds,
The country fragrance on the air,
The sensations of complete relaxation in your body,
Take some quality time now to really enjoy the moment,
Relax,
Tranquil,
Peaceful,
It will be time to return from your woodland relaxation,
So now use the power of your imagination to transport you back in whatever way feels appropriate for you,
Back to where your body is sitting or lying down,
Get a sense of the body,
A feeling of contact with whatever you are sitting or lying on,
Just bring a bit of movement back to the body,
Moving the fingers and toes and then open your eyes,
Open your eyes,
Bringing yourself fully back into your surroundings and take a nice stretch,
Well done,
Bring in that great feeling of peace and relaxation with you.
