In this lesson, we'll notice that our attention is the thing that begins the story which our mind emphasizes. You'll learn the way the mind emphasizes whatever we focus our attention on, and also how that attention has an effect, even on the heart rate of other people! As we take this information in, we can make intentional choices about where our attention lingers.

So today's lesson is about attention.

And it's about that what we pay attention to is what creates like our ideas and narrative about what's happening.

But there's so much happening,

We can't just pay attention to all of it at once.

But every time we focus attention on something,

We're creating a narrative about something that's happening.

Like for instance,

My refrigerator is humming.

And as I pay attention to it,

It just starts to sound louder.

Because I'm blocking out other things to pay attention to that and be like,

Wow,

My refrigerator is really humming loud.

Or maybe the story that if somebody told me that my my nose looks big,

Then I'm going to be feeling self conscious about my nose.

And seeing in the mirror,

Like,

Oh,

Man,

My nose,

Because my nose looks big,

Right?

Is everyone thinking what a big nose I have?

It happened to me.

Not today.

Thank goodness.

Anyways,

Let that go.

But okay,

I'm saying whatever we pay attention to becomes part of a story that we tell ourselves about what's happening and everything other gets blocked out until it takes our attention.

With that said,

I want you to know that your attention is energy.

And in my dissertation research project,

I found out through the experiment that we did,

That I did is that when I am bringing my attention to another person,

Even by distance,

Our brainwaves aligned,

Our heartbeats were in sync.

There were physical measurable changes that happened.

And this isn't only an experiment that I've done,

Though I did one that was kind of specific,

But like this type of experiment has been done a lot in different ways.

And it's very,

Very interesting.

But what it means is our reality is unfolding.

And a lot of it is affected by what we bring our attention to.

And that creates like a story of what is happening.

So if I decide not to label and judge,

But just be present,

I noticed more than my refrigerator that fades into the background.

I noticed the quiet,

I noticed how it feels to be in my office,

I noticed like a lot of other things or that everything is okay,

Which is the main primary objective here that everything is okay.

So everything is here and now nothing really is requiring special attention or labeling or judging or creating a story.

Just everything is unfolding and I can notice it.

And I can also allow it all to be and know that I am okay.

And you can too.

So today,

Please do that.

Just notice your narrative,

Notice the stories you're creating,

And notice what happens when you decide to stop doing that and just be in the moment.

Okay.

Enjoy that.
