In this brief meditation,
We're going to get you to feel totally free of your worries,
Your concerns,
And anything that's been bothering you.
While those situations may still be present in your life,
Knowing that you can return to a place of peace is so valuable.
So I'd like you to begin by just closing your eyes and taking some nice,
Slow,
Deep breaths.
Let's do this together.
Inhale and exhale.
Again,
Inhale and release slowly.
And one more breath in,
And let it go,
Feeling yourself start to relax already.
I'm going to guide you through a little visualization now.
I'd like you to think of those things which have been concerning you,
Maybe upsetting you,
Or just weighing on your mind.
And I'd like you to imagine each one.
You can pick it up and look at it,
And you can set it down.
So do that now.
Taking a look at your concern from the observer's perspective and setting it back down again.
Very good.
Now I'd like you to imagine a balloon,
And this balloon is inflated,
But it's not tied yet.
So the air is inside it,
But you're holding the closure.
So the air is inside the balloon,
But it's not escaping because you are holding the end of the balloon.
I'd like you to imagine yourself picking up one of your concerns and putting it inside the balloon.
Now for the purpose of this exercise,
The air inside the balloon will not escape.
It will only support and suspend the concern you're placing inside.
So no worries about the air whooshing out,
Just allow yourself to push gently that concern into the balloon where it will be suspended inside,
Held by the air.
For the next few moments,
Please take each one of those concerns that you picked up and set down before and place them inside the balloon.
And now I'd like you to tie the end of the balloon.
Make a knot so that everything will stay inside.
Imagine yourself just twisting the end around your finger and pulling it through so that The balloon is now closed with air and your concerns inside it.
You may at this time tie a very long string to the end of the balloon and hold the end of the string,
The other end,
In your hand.
And now I'd like you to release the balloon.
As you release the balloon,
Allow yourself to be free of those concerns as they float up higher and higher.
Now I know you are holding the other end of the string,
And that's fine for now.
Let the string be taken up as the balloon rises higher and higher,
Carrying with it your concerns as they seem farther and farther away from you right now.
As the string becomes taut,
You have a choice.
So I'd like you to consider letting go.
It's fine to let go completely and let them float away.
When there is something that you must attend to,
It will return,
But it won't carry all of the weight that you had been supporting before.
It will only be a thing that needs to be done,
That's all.
And from your place of having released your concerns,
And those concerns having floated away,
You will be able to calmly attend to whatever needs to be done.
But right now,
I encourage you to let go of the string,
And just see the balloon taking higher and higher flight,
Floating away,
And you are left unencumbered,
At peace,
Unconcerned and untroubled,
Restored to a sense of total okayness.
You can stay here as long as you'd like,
But when you open your eyes and you go into your day,
You can hold on to this feeling that everything is okay.
And from this feeling,
You can live your day.
