Welcome.
Today's practice is an invitation to drop beneath the surface,
To listen to what lives in the body,
Not just the polished parts,
But the honest ones,
Even the ones we've been taught to hide.
So I invite you to find a position that supports you,
Sitting tall with feet grounded or lying down with knees bent,
If that helps you feel more rooted.
And begin by gently closing your eyes and arriving in your breath.
Just notice it for now,
No need to change it.
Simply feel the inhale and feel the exhale.
Let yourself settle,
Let the pace of life begin to slow inside of you.
Here,
There is no rush.
And let's bring awareness now to the base of the body,
The seat,
The pelvis,
The thighs,
The feet.
Notice the contact points between your body and the ground.
Feel the weight of gravity,
Feel the way the earth holds you unconditionally.
And now bring your breath deeper into the lower belly.
Not the chest,
Not the upper lungs,
But the root of you.
Breathe into that place.
Let your belly rise and fall.
And breathe as if you were anchoring your presence into the earth.
And now feel into this question,
What have I pushed down?
What part of you,
What emotion,
What truth has been silenced,
Shamed or shut off?
Breathe again longer and deeper.
And as you exhale,
Imagine loosening the lid just a little.
There's no need to dive into pain,
Just let what's underneath have a voice.
Our shadow is not bad,
It's simply honest.
It holds your anger,
Your desire,
Your need,
Your hunger,
Your animal body,
Your inner child.
Now ask yourself,
What part of me is asking to be felt today?
What have I been afraid to express?
Trust what comes,
Maybe it's an image or a memory or a tension in the body.
And now let's move with it,
So begin to activate the breath a little more,
Inhaling through the nose,
Expanding the belly.
Exhaling through the mouth with a sound,
A sigh or a growl or a whisper or a release.
And try three rounds like this,
Inhaling,
Filling your belly,
Exhaling using your voice.
Inhale,
Exhale,
Maybe a sound,
Maybe a shake.
And one more.
Letting the body respond,
If you feel the impulse to move,
Following that impulse.
Maybe your hands want to press into your thighs,
Maybe your shoulders want to shake,
Maybe your fists want to clench.
Don't perform,
Don't force,
Just listen.
The shadow often lives in the hips,
The belly,
The spine,
So move from there.
And let the breath become a rhythm,
Let your body express what words can't always say.
And if you don't feel anything right now,
That's okay,
Just be here with the intention to listen.
Maybe it's the numbness that speaks first.
Now breathe and feel,
What emotions am I afraid to feel?
What's underneath my reaction?
What truth am I tired of holding in?
If you feel a wave of energy rise,
Move it,
Let the body guide the way.
There's no wrong shape or no wrong sound.
This is just a private conversation with your body's truth.
Breathe,
Move,
Sound,
Let it come up,
Let it move through,
Let it complete.
Continuing to breathe deeply,
Full inhales and expression on the exhale,
Whether through sound or movement.
Breathing deeply and again,
Expression with every exhale,
Moving energy,
Allowing whatever's here to be here.
And now begin to slow the breath down again,
Letting the energy settle like waves after a storm.
Let your hands rest gently on your body,
Maybe over your lower belly or your heart,
And feel the warmth of your own contact,
The afterglow of expression.
Now speak inwardly to the part of you that showed up today.
With the respect,
With care,
With reverence,
You might say,
I hear you.
I won't abandon you.
You belong.
The shadow when met with love becomes power.
It becomes creativity.
It becomes the very force that drives your aliveness.
And as we come to a close for today,
Returning to your breath,
Slow and easy,
Feel your body grounded,
Rooted,
Honest,
Whole.
Let's take one last deep breath together,
Inhaling fully,
Expanding through the hips and the belly,
Holding for a moment,
And exhale with a soft sound,
Letting the rest go.
When you do feel ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Coming back to the room,
Coming back to your day,
And carrying this truth with you that the part of you you were thought to hide is often the part with the most to give.
Thank you.
