Hello,
Pasha Lindy here.
Here's a short mindfulness practice designed to help us let go of thinking and come back to the breath,
To the present moment.
So first,
Finding a comfortable sitting,
Standing or lying position.
Closing your eyes or leaving your eyes open with a soft gaze and taking a few nice long deep breaths.
Exhaling fully and then allowing the breath to settle into its own natural rhythm.
So first,
Noticing the movements of breathing,
Perhaps the rise and fall of the abdomen or the chest.
Just allowing your attention to lightly rest there and now introducing a short count.
As we breathe in,
We count one and breathing out,
We count one.
Just counting silently.
Breathing in two,
Breathing out we count two.
Breathing in three,
Breathing out three and so on at our own pace,
In our own time.
And when we get completely lost in thoughts and lose count,
That's fine.
We simply come back to zero and start again.
All the way to nine and then backwards down to zero.
It's fine to allow thoughts to come and go in the background.
If we don't lose count,
We keep going.
There's no prize if we get to nine.
Counting is just a skillful way to show us when we've gotten distracted and completely lost count.
See if you can let go of any goals or hopes.
The main point is to keep the attention lightly focused on the in-breath and the out-breath using counting as a support.
Let's continue for a few more minutes in silence and if you wish you can continue,
Perhaps returning your attention to your breath and counting at other times during your day.
Thanks for taking time to reconnect.
