Hi everyone.
The holidays are approaching us very quickly.
And this is the time of year when we can get really quickly out of balance.
When we think about the idealistic fantasy of the holidays,
We think about laughs and good friends and crackling fires and lots of yummy things to eat and about,
You know,
Relaxing with those that we care about.
And the reality it is,
Is that it's long lineups everywhere you go and worrying about money and whether you have enough to give to people or to share with people and trying to make all the different social engagements,
Whether it be for work or friends or family and traffic jams.
And we can just get really tired and stressed out and not hold on to any energy for ourselves.
So I'd like to lead you through a short guided meditation that will hopefully help to give you 10 minutes piece out of your day and just help you relax and rebalance and maybe help you think about ways that you can bring more balance into your life this holiday season.
So find a comfortable position.
You may lie down if you want or take a seated meditation position.
Close your eyes and feel where your body makes contact with the floor.
Notice how the ground is supporting you.
Be aware of your breath,
Your inhalation and exhalation.
You do not need to change your breath in any way.
Just breathe in and out.
Let all the tension drain from your body.
Notice if you're holding on to any tension in your temples,
Behind your eyes or if you're clenching your jaw.
Just let your whole face relax.
Notice if you're holding on to any tension in your neck or shoulders.
Breathe into it.
Let the tension go from your neck.
Let your shoulders drop.
Notice if your chest is tight.
And if you're breathing shallow short breaths.
Just try to make your breath fuller and more relaxed.
Letting tension go from your chest.
Let your arms relax.
If you're holding tension in your hands,
Just let them soften and relax.
If you have any tension or knots of worry in your stomach,
Breathe into them and let them go.
Let your thighs relax and your calves and your feet.
Let yourself feel as if you're melting into the floor.
Let all the tension melt away into the ground.
Now I want you to think about how you've been spending your time lately.
And I want you to ask yourself,
Where am I at in my life right now?
What is in balance?
What is that?
What is out of balance?
Notice any images or colors that come to mind.
Are there any changes you would like to make in your life?
Do not feel overwhelmed dear one.
You hold all the answers within yourself.
You are capable of creating the balance and the harmony that you so richly deserve in this life.
And slowly bring your attention back to your breath.
Your inhalation and your exhalation.
Slowly bring your attention back to the room.
Feel the temperature of the air on your skin.
Listen to any sounds that you may hear.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
And stretch and open your eyes if you haven't already.
I hope this has helped you in giving you a few minutes of respite from the busyness of your day.
And I'm sending you love and light for this holiday season.
Namaste.
