Wat je zal leren
Our pet animals respond not only to our actions, but to the emotional and nervous system signals our bodies communicate. This course introduces a calm, body-based approach to understanding and influencing animal behaviour through nervous system regulation rather than traditional training approaches Instead of trying to control behaviour, this course supports the conditions where safety, connection, and emotional balance can naturally grow. You will learn how calm and safety, as well as stress and overwhelm appear in the body and how these states shape behaviour in both humans and animals. Through short guided practices including breath awareness, grounding, somatic regulation, and co-regulation exercises, you will develop greater body awareness and learn how calm states can be shared between you and your animal. These practices draw on trauma-informed care, applied neuroscience, and mindfulness-based stress regulation. Each lesson offers a short guided practice, a reflection prompt, and simple daily tools that help create calmer interactions, stronger trust, and a deeper connection with your pet.

Introduction - Nervous System Regulation Comes Before Behaviour Modification
In this introductory lesson, you’ll learn what The Somatic Bond course is about and why nervous system awareness can transform the relationship between you and your pet. Through a brief grounding moment and a personal story, you’ll discover how calm, safety, and connection often begin in the body long before behaviour changes. This course invites pet parents of all animals to explore simple practices that support emotional balance for both human and animal.
Les 2
Understanding The Nervous System. Your Body As The Baseline
In the first lesson, we explore how the body communicates safety or stress before behaviour ever appears. You will learn to notice simple nervous system cues in yourself and begin recognizing how your internal state influences interactions with your pet. The practice introduces gentle awareness of breath and body sensations as the foundation for everything that follows.
Les 3
Experiencing Safety In The Body
Before connection can deepen, the body needs to experience safety. In this lesson, we explore what “felt safety” actually means inside the nervous system and how it shows up through breathing, posture, and attention. You will practice creating brief moments of ease in your own body that your pet can sense.
Les 4
Co-Regulation. Experiencing Calm Together
Humans and animals influence each other’s nervous systems continuously. This lesson introduces the concept of co-regulation and shows how calm can be shared through breath, posture, and presence. You will practice offering a steady state that your pet can naturally respond to.
Les 5
Somatic Reset. Letting Stress Move Through The Body
Stress is not something we need to eliminate. It is energy the body is designed to release. In this lesson, you will learn simple micro-movement practices that help discharge tension and restore balance after stressful moments with your pet or in daily life.
Les 6
Trauma-Informed Connection. Respecting Boundaries
Animals communicate clearly through their bodies when we learn how to observe them. This lesson introduces the idea of consent and relational repair through respectful pacing and awareness of body signals. You will practice slowing interactions so the connection can grow through trust rather than pressure.
Les 7
Heart-Centered Connection
Beyond regulation lies emotional attunement. This lesson explores how moments of appreciation and presence can deepen the bond between you and your pet. Through a gentle visualization, you will practice bringing attention and warmth to the relationship you share.
Les 8
Shared Regulation In Everyday Life
Calm does not only exist in formal practice. It can grow within the spaces and routines you share with your pet. This lesson explores how slowing pace, movement, and attention can help create environments that support regulation for both of you.
Les 9
Contiuing The Practice
In the final lesson, we weave together everything you have explored in this course. You will revisit breath awareness, body presence, co-regulation, and connection as part of a simple daily rhythm that supports long-term balance for both you and your pet.
