Welcome to this guided meditation on the breath and the Buddhist philosophical concept of awareness,
Rooted in the ancient practice of mindfulness meditation.
This practice helps to cultivate a deep sense of present moment awareness,
Allowing us to fully engage with the world around us,
And to cultivate a sense of peace and well-being.
As we proceed,
Feel free to adjust your posture,
Ensuring that you are comfortable,
Relaxed,
And alert.
As you would begin any meditation,
Find a comfortable position,
Either on a cushion,
A chair,
Laying on the ground,
Or standing.
Gently close your eyes or lower your gaze,
Allowing your body to relax as best it can,
Taking a few slow,
Deep breaths,
Inhaling and exhaling.
Now,
Bring your attention to your breath.
Notice the sensation of the breath as it enters and leaves your body.
Observe the rise and fall of your breath,
The sensation of air moving in and out of your nostrils.
Allow your breath to be your anchor,
Bringing your attention back to the present moment,
Whenever it wanders,
Which it loves to do.
As you continue to breathe,
Bring your attention to your awareness itself,
The world around you,
Your breath,
Your positioning,
What you're sitting on,
Any and all conceptions of this present moment.
Recognize that awareness is the foundation of mindfulness meditation,
Allowing us to fully engage with this present moment and to cultivate a deep sense of peace and well-being.
Our awareness is the understanding of our perceptual world,
And our attention is where we place our focus.
As you continue to breathe,
Allow yourself to fully embrace the sense of awareness that you have cultivated.
Recognize that this awareness is a powerful thing that can help you achieve and cultivate a deep sense of compassion,
Understanding and wisdom.
Now,
Expand your awareness to your body.
Notice any sensations you may be feeling,
Any areas of tension or discomfort.
Observe these sensations without judgment or attachment,
Simply noticing them and allowing them to be.
As you continue to breathe,
Allow your awareness to expand to your thoughts and emotions.
Notice any thoughts or feelings that arise in your mind,
Notice them without judgment and without attachment.
Simply observe them and allow them to pass by like clouds in the sky.
As we continue this practice,
Allow yourself to fully immerse in the sense of awareness that you have cultivated,
Recognizing that this sense of awareness can bring you right here and right now.
And in that,
Feel the sense of peace,
Well-being,
And wisdom of this present moment.
As we conclude this meditation,
Take a few slow deep breaths,
Feeling the sense of calm,
Clarity,
And presence that have been cultivated.
Recognize that all of this is a practice that requires patience,
Persistence,
And dedication,
But know that it can take you from here to awakening if you so please.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes and return to your surroundings in your everyday waking consciousness,
Carrying the sense of awareness and presence that you have cultivated with you as you go about your day.
May you be well,
And may your practice of awareness and presence continue to bring you to awakening.
Thank you.
