There is literally nothing in nature that blooms all year long,
So don't expect yourself to do so.
I was lying in bed this morning and feeling a bit lethargic,
A bit slow,
A bit low energy and I saw this on my phone and I thought,
Yes,
Yes,
Go easy on yourself,
You're not a machine.
And then I started thinking about it and I thought,
Well,
That's not entirely true.
Some plants do bloom continuously,
But only when their conditions are right,
But perhaps the truth is that most of us don't live in that kind of paradise,
Do we?
Most of us live real,
Messy,
Complicated lives,
Which are sometimes wonderful,
Sometimes things just tick along and sometimes there are real challenges,
Both in the world around us and also in our inner lives.
Can you allow yourself permission to be human?
This is what we're going to consider today in practice.
Please find a comfortable position,
You know I don't mind what position you're in as long as you're comfortable and somewhere you won't be disturbed for a few minutes.
Taking a moment now to check in with yourself,
What season are you in?
Ask yourself,
What season am I in right now?
This noticing without judgement.
Are you blooming,
Full of energy and ideas,
Growth and creation?
Are you steady,
Grounded,
Capable?
Or are you in a quieter time,
Needing more rest,
Time for reflection,
Space for processing,
Need for gentleness?
Can you allow yourself permission to be human and accept whatever comes up,
Allow yourself to bloom when you have the energy,
Maintain when that's what's needed and rest and care for yourself,
Retreat when you need to.
Perhaps when we loosen our grip just a little,
Perhaps when we unblock the hose pipe and allow the water to flow in the way it naturally wants to.
Perhaps there is possibility,
Magic,
Wisdom.
And I fully appreciate that this approach is somewhat at odds with the demands of daily life,
Work,
Commitments.
But can you do what you can,
When you can,
To honour your seasons and cycles?
Can you allow yourself permission to be human?
May you check in with yourself regularly.
May you be honest with yourself about where you are,
How you're feeling.
May you trust in your seasons and honour the changing cycles.
Thank you so,
So much for practicing with me today.
Thank you.
