Please don't be so hard on yourself. When we feel that we have let ourselves down it can be deeply comforting to remember that we can always begin again. This gentle, soothing practice reminds us that we all fall short at times and that there is always hope. As surely as the rain falls, the sun will shine again. | Composer is Tom Evans. Producer is Louis Palfrey.

Please don't be so hard on yourself.

Let's sit together for a while and just be.

Make yourself comfortable,

Very comfortable.

And just follow your breath as it moves in and out of your body.

You don't need to do anything at all.

Your precious body knows how to breathe.

Just be here and notice the breath for a few moments.

When you're ready,

Gently close your eyes.

I know that you feel disappointed in yourself.

That you feel you've let yourself down,

That you've fallen short.

Please know that it happens to each and every one of us.

The promises that we make to ourselves about being better,

The commitments we make to ourselves to never ever find ourselves here again.

And yet here you are,

Again.

Please know that this happens to each and every one of us.

Please know that you are precious and loved and that the universe understands.

I really do understand.

This life is not easy.

Please know that you are a divine being having an earthly human experience and I know this experience can be hard.

And it continues to challenge you.

Please know that this happens to each and every one of us.

There is nothing wrong with you.

Precious one,

Please know that you can always begin again.

As sure as the sun rises,

As sure as we are gifted each new day,

You can begin again.

Each new day offers you fresh hope,

A new opportunity to listen to yourself,

Love yourself and reaffirm your commitments to yourself.

Ram Dass said,

We are all just walking each other home.

And as such,

I offer my hand and these words to you.

As I say these words,

Let them move through you,

Allowing them into your heart.

May you be well and be open to those who wish you well.

May you know peace and may you seek peace.

May you go easy on yourself and be open to those who offer grace and compassion.

May you encourage yourself and be open to those who encourage you.

May you know gentleness and be so very gentle with yourself.

May you be well and may you be open to those who really wish you well.

May you know peace and seek peace.

May you go very easy on yourself and be open to those who offer grace and kindness and compassion.

May you encourage yourself and be open to those who encourage you.

And may you know gentleness and be so very,

Very gentle with yourself.

Now gently place a loving hand on your heart and sense whatever you most need to hear from yourself right now.

You might offer words like,

I love you and I'm listening.

Or,

It's alright sweetheart.

Just take a few moments now to silently tell yourself what you need to hear.

Before we end this practice,

Please remember that as surely as the rain will fall,

The sun will shine again.

And while there is breath in your body,

You can always,

Always begin again.

So please don't be so hard on yourself.

I highly recommend this for anyone who finds themselves in a trap of beating themselves up in the hopes it will help them get better. This was a lovely way to show myself some compassion when I felt like I was not "performing" well enough.

Excellent. Thu It was years before I truly, finally was able to forgive myself. I was STRONG & Healthy…then atrophied and blessed to live,…vs dead. Self Forgiveness is a beautiful thing.
