Hi and welcome.
Of all the places you can be right now,
You're choosing to be here.
How would you like to feel as a result of taking this time to be here?
Is there something you'd like to take away?
Something you'd like to leave here?
A reset?
Or if nothing arises,
Trust whatever's meant to happen will happen.
My invitation is to be here exactly as you are with whatever's present in your body and mind.
Nothing to change,
Nothing to fix,
Nothing to get right because you're already doing it right.
Simply notice what's happening.
Take the biggest breath in that you've taken all day and let it go with a sigh.
I'll offer that two more times.
Big breath in.
Let it go with a sigh.
One more and let it go.
Notice if anything shifted or did not shift from those three letting go breaths and explore what would be the kindest thing you can do for yourself right now.
What would allow you to be here to rest?
Perhaps there's something in the external environment that you'd like to change,
A different posture,
A blanket,
Whatever would support you to arrive.
And wherever you are while you're listening to this,
Orient into the space that you're in.
Sense if the nose is smelling anything.
Does the mouth have any residual taste?
And is there anything that you hear?
Awareness of the space to the right of you and the space to the left of you.
Space above you and below you.
The depth of the room,
The width and height of the room,
Or perhaps the expansive outdoors if you're not in a room.
And invite your eyes to rest so that maybe looking at something that's not moving,
Allowing all the muscles in the eyes to rest.
Or perhaps if it's comfortable,
Allow the eyes to close.
Top eyelid gently resting on the lower lid.
And whether seated,
Standing or laying down,
Without any strain,
Find a length in your spine.
Listening to the sound of my voice or other sounds.
Allow the sounds to wash through you.
You don't have to chase after them or push them away.
Let them come and go.
Invite the muscles in the face to soften.
Muscles around and behind the eyes.
The skin on the cheeks.
The tongue gently resting in the mouth.
Jaw letting go of any tension.
Neck and shoulders letting go of held tension.
Shoulder blades melt down the back body.
The arms and hands at rest.
Torso and back at rest.
The internal organs functioning optimally and at rest inside the body.
The hips and pelvis softening and releasing.
The legs,
Knees and feet at rest.
Whole body soft.
Whole body light and hollow,
Empty.
And now imagine a blanket covering you.
A heavy or light blanket.
A warm or cool blanket.
Settling the body to feel being held.
Awareness of the surface that rose up to meet you and that the innate wisdom of your body knows what to do.
Rest here.
Sense aliveness while at rest.
The brain in a relaxed state.
Allowing everything to be just as it is.
Brain system being brightened.
Nervous system being massaged.
Getting closer to the place of quiet and rest that resides in all of us.
Taking another few moments here.
And then as you feel ready,
Begin to gently call yourself back into this space.
Inviting any gentle movement into the body and then allowing the eyes to flutter open,
Digging back into the space.
