What might it be like to regard the meditative space as a process of opening?

Opening to sounds like this sound.

And this sound afresh.

And then this.

Remaining open and allowing other sounds to arrive at the ears.

Uninterrupted.

Unhinged.

Unfiltered.

And while for many of us it's natural or habitual to practice meditation with the eyes closed,

What might it be like to allow the eyes to open right now?

Opening to light.

To colour.

Allowing shapes.

Of the visual spectrum.

To enter through the portals of the eyes.

And if it's too distracting,

Then allowing the eyes to close again.

Or maybe to close halfway.

And for the gaze to be soft.

Letting it land on a spot somewhere in front of you.

With a clear and gentle focus.

Opening to this present moment experience just as it is.

Opening to the experience of the body.

In whatever position you may have chosen for this practice.

Noticing the aliveness of the body.

From the inside out.

Attending to sensations of tingling.

The feeling of support.

Whether sitting or standing or lying down.

The support of the ground.

The connection to the earth.

Noticing the stability.

And the possibility of movement.

The movement you may find in the aliveness of the breath.

In the ebb and flow of the breath.

In the unique pattern and rhythm.

With which you connect.

And this and this moment.

A few moments and then close.

Opening to the possibility of being with the mind,

The heart-mind,

The body-mind.

The body-heart-mind as one.

It may be that some aspect of present moment experience stirs the mind into action.

The action of the mind being thinking,

Analysing,

Remembering.

So remaining open to anything that may arise in the fullness of experience while staying present in the body.

Staying present in the listening.

Staying present in the seeing.

Staying present in the breathing.

Breathing to make space for what is here.

Breathing to attend to it with gentleness,

With curiosity and care.

Breathing in to expand the physical landscape of the body.

And breathing out into the space.

Breathing in to create space.

Breathing out to soften.

Breathing in to open.

Breathing out to remain open.

Breathing in to receive.

Breathing out to let go.

Breathing in to enlighten.

Breathing out to settle down.

To land.

To give.

Breathing in to open.

Breathing in.

Breathing out to remain open.

Breathing out to let go.
