Welcome to our meditation.
In this meditation,
I want us to explore what I consider to be the most important question we should be asking ourselves every day.
So let's begin by taking a few deep breaths on your own,
Really filling up on the inhales,
Opening your abdomen,
Your chest,
Your shoulders.
And on each exhale,
Letting everything melt away,
Letting your whole body relax.
And just continue by taking a few more deep breaths like that,
Filling up,
Becoming a little bit more alert on the inhales and balancing that out with the calm and relaxation of the exhales.
And now let your breath flow at its own natural pace,
Letting go of all control,
Allowing your breath to flow naturally.
And we'll do a body scan as I call out the different parts of your body,
Bring your attention to those areas.
If you notice some tension,
Gently release it,
Bringing your attention first to the crown of your head,
Your forehead,
Eyes,
Cheeks,
Nose,
Mouth,
Ears,
Ears,
Ears,
Ears,
Ears,
Mouth,
Tongue,
Jaw,
Ears,
Neck,
Shoulders,
Eyes,
Ears,
Ears,
Ears,
Ears,
Ears,
Ears,
Ears,
Your right arm and hand and your left arm and hand,
Your upper back,
Your lower back,
Your sit bones,
Your chest,
Abdomen,
And hips,
And your right thigh.
Calf and foot and your left thigh,
Calf and foot.
Inhale,
Bring your attention to the rise and fall of your chest,
Feeling your lungs expanding and contracting with each breath.
And ask yourself,
What is it that you want more than anything else in the world for yourself?
And when I ask you this question,
I'm not asking you to look at your external conditions,
At what you might want in the external world.
I'm asking you to look inwards.
What is the internal state of mind that you want to experience?
And as pointers,
I'll offer some words like peace,
Joy,
Love,
Connection.
This is the most important question we should be asking ourselves every day,
To know what it is that we really want so we don't get distracted,
So we don't lose our way and forget what it is that's most important to us.
And now I want you to imagine a symbol that would represent what it is you most want.
And now place that symbol at your heart center,
That place in the center of your chest,
Just below your breastbone.
And imagine this symbol expanding and contracting with each breath.
Giving life to this symbol with each rise and fall of our breath.
And when you notice that your mind has become distracted,
Just gently bring your attention back to your heart center.
Seeing this symbol expanding and contracting with each breath.
And now place that symbol at your heart center.
And now imagine the symbol dissolving into your heart center.
As you feel your breath rising and falling at your heart center.
And now ask yourself,
What would you be willing to do?
What changes would you be willing to make in your life that would bring you closer to what it is you most want?
And in this question,
I'm simply asking you to be honest with yourself about some small changes you might make that would bring you closer to what it is you most want.
And even if it's not something you're willing to do yet or willing to give up yet,
Simply identifying what that change might be is bringing you closer.
And now let that fade away.
Keep your attention at your heart center,
Feeling your breath here.
Seeing the gentle rise and fall of each breath.
Resting all your attention on your breath.
Feeling here in this moment.
Feeling the peace and the stillness of this moment.
And when your mind wanders without any judgment,
Without any regrets.
Simply bring your attention back to your heart center,
Feeling your breath here,
Beginning to feel your breath.
It doesn't matter how many times your mind wanders,
What's important is that you keep bringing your attention back,
Back to your breath,
Coming back into the present moment and feeling the peace of this moment.
About to pays off.
