My name is Melissa Kleehammer and this is the first class of a seven class series in making our own first aid kit at home.
I'm going to keep the classes short and with as few ingredients and supplies as possible.
This first one we're making a pain relief roller.
You need three ingredients.
You need rosemary,
I'm holding it up.
I know you can't necessarily read the label.
But it's just fun to hold up.
So you need rosemary and cedar wood.
And for the carrier oil,
Hemp seed oil.
Turn it this way.
Hemp seed oil,
I say you need it.
If you have sweet almond or jojoba,
That will work well in this blend.
But hemp seed oil has omega fatty acids,
Which is very anti-inflammatory,
Helpful for skin,
Joints,
And muscles.
So it's a really nice carrier to carry the rosemary and the cedar wood which have pain relieving qualities.
So the hemp seed carries those oils,
The cedarwood and the rosemary.
Into the skin.
So all of them together have a really nice effect.
When you want to rub it on sore spots.
So I have a five mil roller.
It's up to you what size bottle you want.
So let's fill this roller and I'll offer a little bit more information after that.
Five milliliters,
I am putting in easy six drops of each essential oil.
So you'll excuse the silence while I count.
So easy,
Six drops of each.
Cap your oil after.
Okay,
And then what we're doing is filling.
To see where you can.
To the top most,
I should say,
The bottom most lip here.
So we're not going to go anywhere near where you would screw the cap on.
Because you have to put in the roller,
Which will end up.
Pouring your liquid out.
Tap that.
Now I always have a little rag nearby just to wipe any excess.
From your fingers or that might have dripped over the edge.
And then I've got my little roller I'm gonna.
Muscle it in.
You should hear at least one pop.
I've had several different kinds of bottles that require three or four sequences of pops and then top it.
Now.
In terms of supplies,
Said you had needed the oils,
But you also need some labeling.
You need to remember and remind yourself what this is.
So I have these tiny white dots that I've been using for years.
I'm just going to write pain.
You could use masking tape.
I used that for a long time,
But one order that I got just came with tons of these little stickers.
So that's what I use.
I store my oils upright,
So I put my label at the top.
You could,
I have also like these ovals,
If you can see.
You could put them on the side of the bottle,
Completely up to you.
So this is a five milliliter bottle.
I also have,
This is a two ounce dropper bottle.
Now,
If you wanted.
.
.
To create a bottle like this.
This then acts as your stock bottle so that if you're traveling,
If you're not necessarily at home,
You just kind of need to throw something in your purse.
You would take an empty small bottle and fill the little bottle from the stock,
If that makes sense.
Because it's much easier to tote around a 5 or a 10 milliliter.
Now,
Lastly,
I did a five mil.
I've been making these recipes for years.
And the 10 mils,
They last a long time,
Which is great.
But I've been finding that I just kind of wanted a smaller bottle.
With less oil.
So we put six of each oil into this five mil.
If you have the 10 mil,
That tends to be more of a standard size,
You just double it.
So you would add 12 of each and then top it with your hemp seed oil.
So thank you for joining me on this class one.
In class two,
We're going to make a bug spray that is helpful for mosquitoes and ticks.
I hope you'll join me.
Again,
My name is Melissa Kleehammer,
And thanks for being here.
