Jealousy.

Jealousy comes from a place of lack,

Of feeling like we don't have enough and that we don't have what we think we need.

And it comes from not having cultivated appreciation and respect for what we do have.

When we feel jealous and when we have judgmental thoughts,

The harm we're doing is against ourselves by holding ourselves back and spurring our negative patterns and attitudes,

Creating a vicious dialogue within.

What if,

Rather than doling out judgment,

You use it to inspire yourself?

What if,

When you feel specific judgments bubbling,

Rather than feed them,

Learn from them?

If you feel jealous about someone's lifestyle because it's something you actually long for,

Ask yourself what changes you can make in your life.

What can you remove or add to your daily habits,

Expenses,

Responsibilities,

So that you can replace that jealousy with a lifestyle you love?

Become still and close your eyes.

Now imagine the people you judge the most standing in a circle around you,

Smiling.

Just like you,

These people have struggles,

Heartbreaks,

Insecurities.

Just like you,

They are doing their best with the tools that they have.

Now imagine standing directly in front of one person in particular and gaze into their eyes.

See the twinkle.

Feel their hopes,

Their fears.

Feel an understanding emerge between you two.

Keep that understanding in your heart as compassion.

Once we come to understand that we're all the same and on similar yet unique journeys,

Our judgment dissolves and opens us to friendship,

Love,

Connection,

Collaboration.

Transform your judgment to camaraderie and you will gain immense wealth.

Namaste.

This was just what a needed. A really really powerful exercise that truly softened my jealousy and showed me an alternative, a deeper way to have a relationship. I haven’t been able to shake jealousy and triggering thoughts lately, until this.
