Burning Brightly, Not Out Workshop

Frontline workers (e.g., teachers, mental health professionals, paramedics, health care workers) are experiencing unprecedented levels of chronic stress, fatigue, and burnout as a result of the pandemic that deeply impacts personal and professional relationships. In this 2-hour interactive workshop, participants will learn about the physiology of chronic stress and burnout, how this impacts emotional, social, and psychological well-being, and ways to effectively manage, prevent and raise team morale.


This experience includes:

  • A customized workbook with journal prompts to enhance learning outcomes

  • A psychoeducation using the latest science-backed evidence

  • 2-3 tangible psychosomatic (e.g., mindfulness, movement) practices to address symptoms

  • Q&A dialogue and discussion

Dr. Megan Kirk Chang

Oxford, UK

Dr. Megan Kirk Chang is a Senior Scientist at the University of Oxford and has held previous research positions at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, York University Health Behaviour Change Lab and the Behavioural Medicine Lab at the University of Victoria. Megan specializes in understanding the impact of extreme stress on emotional, physical, and social well-being. Megan is deeply committed to designing culturally-appropriate online mindfulness-based interventions for underrepresented populations that experience disproportionate exposures to stress, burnout, or trauma. On Insight Timer, Megan brings a unique blend of evidence-based neuroscience, compassion, and trauma-informed approaches to help organizations and survivors reclaim their mind-body connection, return to a sense of aliveness, heal their nervous system, and live with more freedom and ease.
