Charles Morris is the founder and principal of Numen Studio, dedicating his unique blend of professional, academic, and personal experience towards helping organizations empower their employees with mindfulness and awareness-based practices. His mission: to unlock personal and collective transformation to meet the needs of the modern workplace, through fostering purpose, clarity, and compassion. Charles spent 20 years at Microsoft, most recently as the HR Director of Employee Learning & Development. He is the creator of Mindful Growth, an 8-week program designed to accelerate Microsoft’s cultural transformation, and co-founded the Mindful Growth Community, which grew to over 2000 members in less than two years. In that capacity, he was invited to speak at company events and lead mindfulness workshops around the world. Charles also led the design and rollout of a company-wide conversation around values, centered on respect, integrity, and accountability. Before his move into HR, Charles was a group manager on the Windows Engineering team, building thriving teams in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Charles earned a master’s degree in Mindfulness Studies from Lesley University in 2018, culminating in pioneering research on the effects of using biofeedback devices to help new meditators. He is currently earning a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute, rounding out his East/West expertise in personal development. Charles’ professional and academic pursuits are grounded in his personal passions. He has studied and practiced Tibetan Buddhism since 2004, teaching public programs for kids and adults for over a decade, and completing several extended retreats. He is the proud father of two teenagers and currently resides in Vancouver Island, Canada. During his free time, he enjoys hiking in the woods with his dog, playing the piano, and participating in nature-based education programs.
