This is a guided meditation for the Summer Solstice.
When the seasons change we're reminded of the passage of time,
The constant change in life,
The shifts in ourselves,
In our bodies,
Our surroundings.
Life is constant change.
At the same time we can be aware of what doesn't change.
Begin by finding a comfortable position.
Take a deep breath and then close your eyes.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Notice the breath moving in and out.
Life breathes the breath.
Life brings the changes in light and dark and the changing seasons.
Let's relax into those cycles of life.
Notice the breath moving in and out.
What else are you experiencing?
Simply be aware of it without trying to change anything.
Emotions come and go.
Happiness comes,
Happiness goes.
Sadness comes,
Sadness goes.
Like the cycles of light and dark.
And now we're in a cycle of more light.
Light brings life.
Light brings energy,
Growth.
We see it all around us.
The in-breath brings life,
Growth.
Breathe in the light of this time.
Breathe in the light and energy of the sun.
Perhaps you'll notice there's a subtle light within you that with your eyes closed it's not all dark.
There's an inner light.
This time of the year reminds us of that inner light.
Take some time to feel grateful for light.
Take some time to reflect and feel gratitude for what the light brings,
For what the sun brings.
If life is going well for you now,
Things are feeling positive.
Let the light enhance that,
Reflect that.
Let it be a mirror for times of good fortune.
If this is a time of challenges and difficulty for you,
Let this be a reminder of change.
After the brightest day of the year,
The light will gradually decrease,
Darkness will increase.
And then eventually the tide will turn in the other direction with the increase of light.
Nothing lasts forever.
Change is constant.
Whatever the challenges are,
They'll end and something else will take their place.
So you can relax and you can always bring your attention to that which doesn't change,
To that which sustains you.
You can bring your awareness back to the breath,
The in and out of the breath.
Know that your life is always supported.
And all of this change and all of these experiences happen in awareness,
Open,
Unbounded awareness.
And that never changes.
So whatever it is that you're experiencing,
Emotions,
Thoughts,
Sensations,
Let them be in the background and let awareness be in the foreground.
And while you're enjoying the longest day of the year,
Think of those who have the longest night happening at this time.
Allow your awareness to expand out beyond your current situation and see the totality And now as we end this meditation,
You can carry the appreciation of the sun,
Of light,
Of the cycles of life with you.
And now,
As we end this meditation,
You can carry the appreciation of the sun,
Of light,
Of the cycles of life with you.
And you can carry with you that broader awareness,
That broader perspective,
And the sense of that which doesn't change,
The presence of life itself.
Now take some time to slowly come out of the meditation.
