Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya
In this lesson, we chant the beloved traditional mantra Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya. Shiva is one of the most powerful Hindu Gods, the Adi Yogi, an ascetic, the Destroyer, and the Cosmic Dancer whose dance can bring bliss or destruction. Connecting with the power of Shiva is grounding and clarifying.

Kali Durga Mantra
The divine feminine is powerfully represented in Sanātana Dharma and yoga. In this mantra we honor the fierce Mother Protectress, Durga, as well as Kali, the Goddess of Destruction. "Jai Mata Kali, Jai Mata Durga" - Victory to Mother Kali, Victory to Mother Durga.

Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo
This beautiful mantra comes from the Sikh tradition and was integrated into yogic practice through Kundalini Yoga. The meaning of the manta is succinct and clear: I bow to and honor the divine teacher. This is my own setting and I added in the eight names of Har from Sikhism. Har, pronounced "hud," is the formless, omnipresent aspects of the divine. Sat Nam!

Om Mani Padme Hum
Om Mani Padme Hum is one of the most beloved Buddhist mantras, it is chanted across different sects in multiple languages. We will chant it in Sanskrit. This mantra refers to the "jewel in the lotus". The jewel purifies our body, speech, and mind, turning us from hatred, greed, and confusion to peace, compassion, and wisdom. May it be so. This is a setting I created.

Kyrie Eleison
This Greek mantra/prayer is from the Christian tradition. It is a petition to God and Christ to have mercy upon us and the world. This is a setting I created. I added in the beginning of the "Glory Be" in Latin at the very end: Gloria Patri et Filio and Spiritui Sancto, glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Longtime Sun Mantra
This mantra is often chanted at the end of kundalini yoga classes, however it was originally an Irish Blessing and has elements of a pagan or earth-based wisdom tradition. This is a setting I created. Sending blessings to you upon the completion of the course: may "the pure light within you, guide your way on."
