The Heart of Kindness and Compassion Meditation The Heart of Kindness and Compassion Meditation The Heart of Kindness and Compassion Meditation The Heart of Kindness and Compassion Meditation So construct your posture,
One that is at ease,
Comfortable,
Without constriction.
Mmm.
Mmm.
Mmm.
Mmm.
Mmm.
And rouse an intention for this meditation.
And let go of conceptualisation.
Come to the present.
Come to stillness and quietude,
Relaxation.
Stabilise your attention,
Letting it settle.
Mmm.
Mmm.
So now I invite you to the cultivation of a heart of compassion and kindness.
And if you wish,
If it's meaningful for you,
You can place a palm or both hands over your heart as a way of stimulating and reminding of your heart.
A place in our body where these qualities seem to abide.
And throughout this meditation you can leave your hand there,
Or you can move it away,
Or you can bring it backwards and forwards as you feel is suitable for you.
And with that in mind,
You're invited to go to that place in your heart which is soft and gentle.
A place in your heart that is kind and compassionate.
We humans all have it.
Sometimes it's obscured,
But deep inside we all have the heart of a Buddha,
The compassion of a Buddha.
The kindness and wisdom of a Buddha.
Open to that place in your heart.
And you may even like to visualize it perhaps as a radiant pool,
Luminous pool,
That is infinitely receptive.
You can fill this pool with everything you know,
All your experiences of compassion,
All your experiences of warm benevolence,
And strengthen it.
And whatever suffering you may have,
Bring it along to that infinitely receptive heart of the Buddha.
And touch it.
Gently place all your suffering into that place so it is transformed.
It is infinitely loving,
Kind,
Receptive,
Transformative.
Let it grow.
Let it fill you from the heart so that it transforms and so that it grows throughout your whole being.
So you've become fully immersed in this quality of open heartedness,
Filled with wisdom,
Compassion,
Benevolence,
Completely understanding,
Receptive,
Healing,
Transformative.
Whatever suffering you may have,
Whatever causes for suffering you may have,
Bring them to this quality and allow them to be transformed.
And allow this quality to expand beyond the boundaries of what we normally call ourself.
Expand out as if it can touch,
Go boundlessly in front of us,
Behind us,
To either side,
Above and below.
This boundless heart of kindness and compassion.
Touching suffering and transforming it.
Liberation.
Freedom.
Boundless compassion and kindness.
Freedom.
Freedom.
In a few moments I'll end this very brief meditation practice.
If you've had even just a whiff of a scent of that boundless heart of kindness and compassion,
If you notice it there and had even just a minor transformation,
A healing,
Know that that heart is there for whenever you need.
Know that it's available for you.
The heart of kindness and compassion.
