Blue Star is a deep relaxation in the subtle or energy body. We begin this practice with a sankalpa, a healing intention, then bring awareness of a brilliant blue white light into each of the 61 points. With our mind still, we then rest in the heart center in yoga nidra.

Blue star is traditionally done in shavasana,

It's when you're lying on your back,

But you could also be leaning back in a chair,

You could be on a bed,

On the floor,

Sitting up.

In this particular practice it's better once we get started with it to find a position where you can be still.

Try a couple of deeper breaths and see what that feels like.

So blue star is a practice when we don't work with the breath,

We don't need to have that awareness,

And yet it's often helpful to relax our physical body,

Let our breath become smooth,

Continuous,

Diaphragmatic.

Bring to mind if there's something in particular that you would like to open into.

It's like setting a sankalpa resolve.

Is there an openness in your heart about something that you would like to really focus in on,

Or is there something that's been painful that you would benefit from letting that release out of your body?

Notice if there's something that comes to mind as a specific way that you'd like to work with this practice.

If you're using an intention,

Set it in a positive tense.

I'm releasing pain and fear from my body.

I'm focusing on that brilliant blue-white light to allow it to heal every cell in my body,

Whatever that might be for you.

Really bring your mind into that.

Notice if you need to make another adjustment or two before we start the blue star practice.

And then bring your attention into stillness in your body.

Soften your whole body from head to toes.

And then notice the space itself.

Notice the space that your body is occupying.

Blue star is a subtle body practice,

Works with the 61 points,

Some of which are chakras,

Some of which are marma points,

Where the physical and the subtle body,

The energy body,

Are connected.

But to do the practice,

If you have a very visual mind,

You might see an image of the brilliant blue-white light as it shines and pulses in the points.

Otherwise,

You might have a different type of an image,

Or maybe a felt sense,

A vibration.

Doesn't really matter how it shows up,

Just bring your attention from point to point.

Be aware again of your whole entire body,

The space your body is occupying.

And notice the 61 blue stars or the 61 points and that light that's radiating out to fill the whole space,

Whole space around your body as well.

Your awareness in the heart center,

Noticing how that brilliant light radiates out to fill the whole space,

Your whole body filled with light,

With stillness.

And then let your awareness settle into the stillness itself.

A little bit of awareness of the physical body,

Maybe even of the breath,

The light from the 61 points in the body.

And then even letting that move to the background and rest your awareness in the stillness in the heart center.

Notice if your mind goes off into some train of thoughts,

Just bring it back.

Come aware again of your body,

Of the 61 points,

With the light radiating out from the heart center.

And then allow your awareness to turn deeper and deeper into the stillness.

Let your mind rest.

If your brain speeds up and you start thinking about something,

Let it go.

Come back into this deeper resting state.

Focus on the stillness.

And bring to mind again your sankalpa,

Your intention.

If you set one,

Refresh that in your mind.

And then come back into awareness of the space that your whole body is occupying from head to toes,

Toes to head.

Notice the sensation of air as you're breathing in your nostrils,

Coolness of the inhale,

The warmth of the exhale.

As you're ready,

Open your eyes and add that layer.

We still have that deep stillness.

We have that beautiful radiating light from the heart center and the 61 points.

Give our physical body our breath.

And just for another moment before you move and go into the rest of your day,

Notice all of the layers that we can be aware of at once.

I've had this practice bookmarked and downloaded for some time now. Today I was able to sit and follow through. I have been experiencing physical symptoms as well as trauma symptoms from new and old situations lately. This practice felt like a soothing balm, the perfect blend of grounding and healing. Many, many thanks. I'm grateful that you consistently offer this amazing, healing blend of trauma-informed mindfulness. 🙏❤️‍🩹🕊️

I first learned of blue star in one of your lives. I now regularly use the technique to get back to sleep when I awake in the middle of the night. Grateful for this track to access when I need support.
