This meditation invites you to explore the transformational quality of stillness by focusing on three key aspects: physical stillness, mental stillness, and an internal posture of acceptance. You’ll practice observing sensations without reacting, anchoring your mind with the breath, and cultivating a state of easeful surrender. Through these practices, you’ll create space for deeper self-connection and the capacity to respond to life with greater clarity and intention.

Welcome,

And thank you for joining this meditation on the transformational quality of stillness.

Over the next few minutes,

We'll explore the three key aspects of stillness – physical,

Mental,

And an internal posture.

Taken together,

These three aspects of the quality of stillness help us to connect more deeply with ourselves and create space for change.

Begin by finding a comfortable seated posture.

Allow yourself to rest naturally and let your body settle.

Take a few intentional deeper breaths to ground yourself in this moment.

Commit to keeping your eyes closed throughout this practice.

This gentle commitment will help you tune into your inner world with greater clarity.

Let's begin with physical stillness.

Find a posture that feels stable and comfortable.

As you sit,

You may notice sensations arising – an itch,

An ache,

Or an impulse to adjust.

Allow yourself to feel these sensations fully,

But refrain from reacting.

Resist the urge to scratch or shift.

Instead,

Simply observe.

Notice what it feels like to sit with discomfort and let it naturally pass on its own.

Physical stillness teaches us the power of staying present,

Even when faced with challenges.

Take a few moments now to practice this commitment to physical stillness.

Now let's turn our attention to mental stillness.

Bring your awareness to your breath.

Find a specific point on your body where you can distinctly feel the sensations of your breath.

Perhaps you can notice the air as it passes through the entrance of your nostrils,

Or the subtle rise and fall of the chest and the ribcage,

Or the expansion and contraction of your belly and abdomen.

Let one of these three points of contact be your anchor for mental stillness.

When the mind wanders,

As it naturally will,

Notice the distraction without judgment and gently guide your focus back to your breath.

It doesn't matter how many times the mind drifts.

What matters is your patient and non-reactive return to the breath each and every time you notice the wandering.

Spend a few moments now cultivating mental stillness.

Finally,

We'll explore what it means to embody an internal posture of stillness.

Stillness is not about being rigid or tense.

Instead,

It's about softening,

Surrendering,

And leaning into your experience.

If you encounter tension or constriction,

Or even pain,

Simply notice it.

Rather than resisting or fighting against it,

Practice allowing yourself to accept it as it is.

Let stillness become a state of ease and receptivity rather than force.

Soften,

Relax,

And allow the experience.

Feel into this internal posture of stillness now,

Practicing a soft acceptance and surrender.

Take a few moments now to integrate these three aspects of stillness,

Physical,

Mental,

And an internal posture.

Let them flow together as one cohesive experience.

As we move towards closing this practice,

Allow the breath to deepen,

And noticing what it's like to be in your body right now.

Before you open your eyes,

Set the intention to carry this transformational quality of stillness with you into your day.

Let it create the space you need to consciously and intentionally respond to life,

Rather than reacting out of habit.

Thank you for practicing with me today.

This is a great track for those who like guidance mixed with silence. There is no background music which made it perfect from my perspective. Really enjoyed the practice
