Centering Meditation by Tarika Lovegarden To return to your center,

Begin by adjusting your body so that you're comfortable.

Close your eyes,

Feeling them come to rest.

As your body relaxes,

Feel your back supported by the chair or pillows you're resting on.

Place your hands on your heart center in the middle of your chest.

As you feel your hands on your chest and you feel your back,

You can also feel the space in between.

Listening to this gentle music in my voice from this space,

The space of your heart.

As you listen,

Take deep full breaths,

Feeling your chest expand and relax with each breath.

As you breathe in,

The breath can easily flow to wherever you may feel sore,

Tense,

Or tight.

With each out-breath,

Your body is becoming more soft,

Relaxed,

Feeling refreshed with new energy,

More space inside.

You may be feeling different sensations in your body or delicate movements of energy.

Allowing these sensations to be as they are,

As you relax into the flow of feeling.

Deeper inside,

You're becoming aware of your heart.

You may sense delicate feelings flowing within your heart.

Moving from the surface of the heart to the center is just as easy as sitting on a beach watching the sea.

There are many waves on the surface,

But in its depth the sea is calm,

Quiet,

Like the center of your heart.

The turmoil of the mind is on the surface,

Where the winds of thoughts and feelings create waves.

On the surface,

Winds come and touch you,

And you cannot change this or stop it from happening.

Beneath the surface,

It is eternally silent,

Peaceful,

Beyond the reach of the mind,

Beyond the reach of time.

Beneath the surface,

You are at the center,

Where you can watch the comings and goings of life undisturbed.

Here is stillness,

Peace,

Silence.

This space is relaxing,

Soothing.

Here you expand into vast awareness.

Here you are in a synchronicity,

A oneness,

Harmony within yourself,

Others,

With nature,

With all of existence.

Even as you continue resting in this oneness at the center,

Life is still rippling on the surface,

And the uniqueness and creativity of life goes on expressing itself in countless ways.

In this moment,

Body sensations,

Emotions,

Thoughts,

Are all moving around a center of stillness,

Silence,

Reaching from the earth to the sky,

A feeling of having no limits,

And yet you are deeply connected,

Rooted in your body,

Resting at your center.

Enjoying,

Relaxing in the vastness of your inner being.

Remember,

You can connect to your center in any moment.

When you are ready,

Take a deep breath and open your eyes,

Returning to your center each moment,

Again and again and again,

As you move through life.

You have shown me a place inside of myself I didn’t know existed. What a wonderful feeling to watch my thoughts, worries and emotions pass by me at a distance. And doing this while in the center, perfectly at peace with life. Thank you! Cheers

I really like the ocean imagery and the idea of the silence and stillness within, like in the depths of the ocean. Thinking of thoughts as wind and waves was helpful for me.
