Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott.
I'm taking you on a walk I've just crossed over the stream here on Dartmoor.
It's the Ludbrook and there's not been a lot of water recently So it's it's quite low and easy to cross on little stones that stick up in this very broad part of the stream and this is actually where animals come and they'll drink water you'll often see a herd of ponies or cattle down here drinking from the stream and I'm on a walk reflecting on a series of things which I'm sharing with you.
And do you remember a couple days ago we explored this idea of going through a shift and transition and change in life?
This is particularly what I'm interested in the moment is when you go through a transformation in life.
It's different.
You move from one stage of life into a different phase of life.
I'm particularly interested in this for older women as we shift through the menopause and move through maybe caring for children and raising a family and running a career to moving our attention to elderly parents or relatives and finding our shift and drive is changed about where we want to put our energy when it comes to work.
Then yesterday we were exploring the rise and the feeling of intuition and wisdom that feels like it's really rising in my world and and I'm keen to hear what that's like for you where you feel that intuition and wisdom and it's about trusting it and feeling it in your life.
And today's reflection moves on from that as I want to share this idea of listening to that intuition and the creative expression that might emerge from it.
A creative expression,
What do I mean by that?
Often when we talk about creativity and expression,
People think about maybe art or crafts or writing or music,
This sense that there is a creative process you go through and then you express it in music or art or in different ways in the world,
Like there's a physical sculpture that emerges from your working on the clay,
For example.
Sure,
That is one way I'm exploring creative expression,
But for me it means so many other things.
I touched on yesterday how I listened to my inner compass,
That inner intuition,
That wisdom,
And it nudged me.
On a pilgrimage.
It nudged me to walk for seven weeks across England.
Now that for me was a creative expression.
There was something that wanted to come through me and it came through me by walking.
I've got a friend who has bought a small piece of land and she's inspired by nature and nature restoration and she's allowing this piece of land to return to a wildflower meadow.
That is her form of listening to intuition and having creative expression.
After the walk,
You probably remember I've been talking about the book that I wrote that seemed to want to be written as a result of walking the pilgrimage.
And if you check out my profile,
You can find out more information about the book,
Which is now published.
But can you see it takes different forms of expression?
It might be walking.
It might be being in nature.
It might be being creative with your friends,
Your family.
It might be about caring.
Who knows what it is for you,
But there is something that wants to be expressed,
Is really wanting to take expression through you.
And you become the conduit for that,
The vehicle for that expression to take place.
For me,
The expression doesn't feel like it's coming from little Liz,
My identity.
It feels as though it's coming from the energy and essence of the universe itself.
And it doesn't need to be massive or big or prominent in the world.
It might just be something that you've longed to do yourself.
Maybe it's to take up something,
A hobby or a craft.
Maybe it's about exploring a subject that you've always longed to learn about.
Maybe you're taking up yoga.
Maybe it's about taking up some form of healing or alternative complementary therapies that you want to know more about or you want to experience yourself from a practitioner.
Whatever is happening for you around this creative expression,
Listen into it and see what it is.
And let me know if you can get a sense of what that is.
That's what I want to hear from you today.
What is your form of creative expression?
How is it taking form through you?
And don't forget,
It will shift and change over time.
So it never seems to stay static.
Where is it for you right at the moment?
And tomorrow I'm going to continue this conversation and I want to just explore creating space in your life to listen and to act on wisdom and finding your creative expression.
So do join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
