Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott and I am very far north now.
I've crossed the border from England into Scotland and I'm on the east coast at a place called North Berwick out on a walk today.
I've just walked down to what's called the Balgon Lakes and I'm walking back along country lanes.
You might hear the occasional car go by.
It's really quiet but there are a few cars.
Cars out and about and I'm leaning up against a farmer's field gate.
It's a metal gate and I can see through it the golden head of barley bent.
Bent over.
It's a beautiful golden sea of crops right in front of me.
It's not so hot today.
It's been scorching hot in England but here in Scotland where I am at the moment it's not been so bad and it's a bit grey and cool which is rather nice and it's been wonderful just to get out stretch my legs and to explore a different area of the country.
And today's reflection is actually all about love.
I often bring it back to love.
And I guess because of circumstances that I've been through in the last 24 hours,
This has really been deepened for me as something so important in my life that has me feel fulfilled,
Nourished and blessed.
Last night my mum had another fall.
If you follow me on Insight Timer you'll know she had a fall the other night and it wasn't a bad fall at all.
She was able to be lifted up off the floor and back into bed again.
But this time she cracked her head and had to be taken into hospital because she was losing a little bit of blood and she's in hospital now and probably will be in hospital for two or three days just to say assess her and check her out.
Scotland and if you know the map of the UK then you'll know my home is hundreds and hundreds of miles away on the southwest tip.
It's like the foot that points out into the Atlantic Ocean,
That's the place where I live.
So I feel a very long way away and I'm relying on my siblings,
My two brothers and my sister,
To give me updates and to let me know how things are going and they're doing such an incredible job and I feel quite removed and very much feeling like I ought to be back home with everybody supporting them but also knowing that it's not necessary right at the moment.
Things are stabilised,
Things are going okay and I'm going to continue with the holiday that we're on in the campervan.
But one of the things that's come sharply into focus is this area of love.
And I feel it.
It makes me want to cry with the emotions of gratitude and thankfulness.
When I think of my dear old mum,
Who's probably a little bit,
Well,
Knowing my mum,
She's probably a little bit frustrated that she's in hospital and she wants to go home.
They won't let her go home yet.
This independent spirit she's got,
She's probably had a little bit of a scare.
Certainly my brothers have had a scare when they had to pick her up off the floor and call the ambulance and get her into hospital.
But it's just this wonderful sense of people coming together and loving and this network,
This web of love that connects me,
My family and other people as well.
I just feel it deeply.
So my mind has the propensity to rush off into worst case scenarios and worry.
But actually,
When I bring my awareness back,
I just feel this rooted,
Rock-solid foundation of love that runs through me,
Runs through everything.
And with that,
I feel this sense of gratitude.
Gratitude at my wonderful family and gratitude at my dear old mum.
And I know that at any point,
If I need to,
I can go home and support as well.
So today's five minutes in nature is all about love,
Recognising that sense and space of love in your life.
For me,
It comes into sharp focus when something happens that kind of jolts me a little bit and has me wake up.
And this has certainly done that.
And what it wakes me up to is this ever-present sense of love that's in my life,
In your life.
It's the essence of everything.
We are made of this same energy.
So that's the reflection today.
It's all about love.
It's a reflection I come back to time and time again.
And for me,
It's the most important reflection of all,
Bringing your awareness back to love.
Let me know your reflections on this.
And don't forget,
Of course,
To join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
