Welcome to this guided sleep meditation called Just Being Me.
Let's begin.
Hop onto bed and squeeze your pillow tight,
Making a dreamy fluffy pillow.
Then settle into bed now.
Get comfortable as if you were a rabbit in your very own rabbit bed,
Closing one eye for just being me.
Closing the next eye to dream of a rabbit called Jim.
Let your hands and feet curl into a soft bunny paw shape.
It's a lot of fun being a rabbit,
For you always do have lots and lots of sisters and brothers,
Some younger and some older.
First one up in the morning is always the best dressed,
But rabbit Jim was always the last.
He always said,
It just isn't me.
So odd socks for sure went on all his paws.
Jim's mother couldn't get rabbit Jim to eat properly,
Like his other sisters and brothers,
Who had such healthy appetites,
And their mother did smile,
For they always did eat whatever mother gave them for breakfast,
For lunch,
For tea and supper.
Jim,
However,
Looked more bored than anything.
These carrots look boring.
This potato looks boring.
The lettuce was okay though.
Jim also had unusual teeth,
Since very little,
His front teeth were not flat and long.
In an old photograph,
He looked just like his great grandfather,
The same smile,
The same teeth.
Jim had to close his eyes to eat,
But he also imagined how they should look too.
Jim dreamed of eating exotic carrots,
Which meant the shape of them were different.
For these boring carrots,
Well,
Jim would say,
It just isn't me.
Jim was worried about not putting any weight on,
So he went to look in the bedroom and thought very deeply how to solve this problem.
He looked into the mirror and made all his muscles stand up on his arms and legs.
He had to get close to the mirror to see them.
Here he was in the bedroom,
Thinking deeply how to solve this problem to gain a healthy weight.
He first sat in silence,
Waiting for the answer to pop in his head.
He also knew deep down every problem had a solution,
And this part made him smile,
For this was more me,
Said Jim.
Then he knew the answer,
But would everyone else be okay about it?
He wanted to change the way things looked before he ate them.
He wanted his carrots to be an adventurous shape.
Then he hopped straight outside to physically put his answer into action.
He began his new hobby to practise making these new carrot shapes,
And when he felt they were good enough,
He would show them to his mother.
With his unusual front teeth,
He picked up a carrot,
Closed his eyes and imagined the shape he would like them to be.
Straight away his teeth nibbled around the edges.
And the more he practised,
The more exotic the shapes of the carrots became.
He felt also he had a natural talent for this.
For this was definitely me,
Said Jim.
A few weeks went by,
And potatoes and carrots became very exotic.
Then he put his best work in a cloth bag,
And went straight to his mother,
Who was in the kitchen.
His mother beamed and smiled very brightly.
You're just like your great grandfather.
He was fussy,
And invented new ways to eat.
It was in fact a gift.
Jim smiled with all his teeth.
And before he could say a word,
His mother did a quick dance around the kitchen,
Declaring – we shall have a picnic and celebrate you being you.
So,
When the dinner bell rang,
All Jim's brothers and sisters came rushing in the kitchen.
She marched them all out for a picnic,
A mystery picnic.
They headed to a watery area so they could have a swim first.
This lazy looking river became a big splashing party.
Then Jim liked to swim.
Now swimming does give you a healthy appetite.
As everyone made a circle around the picnic hamper,
Then they waited for Dad to come and join them after work.
Everyone was licking their lips and tummies were rumbling,
Rumbling.
And so began the exotic picnic.
Eyeballs got bigger,
Mouths dropped in wonder.
Everything they did eat that day looked spectacular.
Yet it was what they always did eat.
Jim was very hungry that day and felt his muscles getting stronger.
And before the picnic was over,
All his sisters and brothers asked Jim to make all their picnics look spectacular.
Now Jim was already thinking of more ideas.
Just be me,
Said Jim.
And now maybe it's your turn to be you and dream of your perfect picnic.
Where shall you go to begin it?
What will be in the picnic basket that is special?
Bring family,
Bring friends and begin a sweet and savoury dream.
Remember you too have a gift.
I wish you a sweet and savoury,
Spectacular dream for you.
