Come into a position where you feel both comfortable and alert.
You could be lying down or in a reclined position,
Sitting upright or perhaps you have your legs up the wall in an inversion.
Tune into your body and see if you can tell what it needs today.
As you settle in,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze,
Beginning to take this journey inward.
Let's take three deep breaths together.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Filling up the belly,
And on the exhale,
Open your mouth and let it out,
Feeling your shoulders drop away from your ears as you empty all the air from your stomach.
Take a second deep breath in,
This time filling up belly and lungs,
Holding at the top,
Then open mouth,
Let it out.
Take a third deep breath in,
Letting this be the fullest breath you've taken,
Filling up belly,
Lungs,
Chest,
Holding at the top,
Then open mouth,
Let all the air out.
Now keeping the lips sealed,
Start to breathe in through the nose and out through the nose.
Let's practice square breathing.
To do this,
You will inhale for a count of four,
Hold for a count of four,
Exhale for a count of four,
Then hold for a count of four.
We will do the first three rounds together,
Then I'll give you a few rounds to practice at your own pace.
Anytime you practice a breath retention exercise,
Know that you can release your breath or your inhale whenever you need.
Start by taking a full exhale.
Now inhale for 234 hold for 234 exhale 234 hold 234 inhale,
Hold,
Exhale,
Hold,
Inhale,
Hold,
Exhale,
Hold.
Now take the next few cycles on your own,
Reminding yourself that you can count as fast or as slow as you'd like.
Let go of the breathing exercise and allow your breath to return to a normal rhythm.
Let's dig a little deeper by considering the tarot card,
The Fool.
This card shows a young man on the edge of a cliff without a care in the world as he sets out on a new adventure.
He's gazing upwards towards the sky and is seemingly unaware he is about to skip off of the cliff into the unknown.
He has a modest knapsack over his shoulder containing everything he needs,
Which isn't much.
There are mountains behind him symbolizing the challenges to come,
But the Fool is not concerned.
He is more focused on starting his journey.
This is a card of new beginnings,
Opportunities,
And potential.
It encourages you to have an open curious mind and a sense of excitement.
This is your invitation to relax,
Play,
And have fun.
Embrace your carefree spirit and allow yourself to connect with the energy around you.
Turn your focus inward and take this time to ask yourself,
What is my pure untapped potential?
Sit with this question without trying to analyze or think and allow any answers to come up from deep within.
What is my pure untapped potential?
As you practice tuning in to your intuition,
You may notice that you don't always get words as answers.
You may have gotten images or impressions or even seemingly random thoughts or memories.
Maybe you didn't get anything at all.
Sometimes things come up later.
Take a few breaths to process whatever your experience was.
Listen to the following affirmation.
Every day I become more and more aware of my amazing potential.
Every day I become more and more aware of my amazing potential.
As we reach the end of today's practice,
Bring the palms together at heart center,
Slightly bowing your head and take a moment to reflect on this experience.
Were you able to connect with your inner wisdom?
Did you practice listening and being open?
Allowing this experience and any insights you've gained to stay with you,
Bring your awareness back to your physical surroundings.
Take your time and when you're ready,
Open your eyes and allow your body any movement that it needs.
