Welcome to this guided meditation for sweet dreams.
We will walk together down a path that is filled with the energy of calm,
Rest,
Relaxation,
Safety,
And healing.
Before we begin,
Take a moment to get comfortable.
Adjust as you need to for your rest.
It can sometimes help to have a pillow under or between your knees,
And to have a covering over your eyes for extra darkness.
Once you get settled,
Take a moment to acknowledge the land that you are on,
And your relationship to this particular place in the world.
And that includes your history here,
And also your immediate intimate relationship with this place,
The season,
The air,
The quality of the light and darkness.
If you haven't already,
Check in with your breath.
You may want to take a big sigh,
Or simply a natural mindful breath,
Helping to communicate to your body that it's time to rest.
Let's take a moment as well to check in with the body.
As you notice areas of tension throughout your body,
You can simply exhale and relax that area,
Allowing it to melt.
Sometimes it helps to actually tense that area fully,
And then completely release.
Begin with your feet,
Noticing your feet,
And then your calves becoming heavy and relaxed.
Your knees,
Your thighs,
Heavy and soft.
Your hips and glutes,
Your entire pelvic area.
Your belly,
Noticing your belly moving with your breath,
Soft and relaxed.
Your lower back,
Your upper back,
Your chest,
Shoulders soft and relaxed.
Arms and hands soft and relaxed.
Your neck,
Your jaw,
Your teeth,
Separating,
Your tongue,
Relaxing.
The muscles around your eyes,
Your cheeks,
Your head,
Your mind.
Imagine your mind softening,
Like a soft sunset,
The light disappearing over the horizon.
Now imagine a circle of white light all around your body.
This circle protects you from any energies that are unhealthy for you in any way.
This is a place for health,
Wellness,
Sweetness,
Love,
And light.
Now imagine you are walking along a path.
Your feet are comfortably bare,
And the path is smooth stones warmed by the sun,
Just enough to feel comforting and soft on the soles of your feet.
The stones are a gentle terracotta color,
A faded peachy pink.
It is a beautiful summer day,
A slight breeze on the air.
On either side of this path is blackberry bushes,
Heavy with fruit.
The smell sweet and a little intoxicating.
You take a deep breath,
Slowly walking along the path,
Simply enjoying the feeling of this path beneath your feet.
The scent of these abundant berry bushes at your sides.
After a while,
The path begins to change.
The wide soft terracotta stones begin to look a little older,
A little more faded,
Sunk a little deeper into the soft rich earth.
The path gradually changes,
Giving over to smooth,
Soft dirt.
It feels cool under the soles of your feet,
But still soft and cultivated,
Very easy for you to walk on.
And as you feel this path change beneath your feet,
You feel a healing quality rising up through the soles of your feet into your body.
With every step you take,
Your body feels calmed and soothed,
As if any inflammation or discomfort is simply leaving your body through the soles of your feet.
The earth drawing it out like a poultice,
Taking it into itself to be transformed into something else.
As this earth energy rises through your feet and releases back down through your feet,
You feel your shoulders dropping further,
Your jaw and your throat relaxing a little bit more as the earth becomes soft and welcoming to your body.
Your breath deepens even a little bit more,
Feeling totally safe and calm in this beautiful place.
As you walk along this smooth dirt path,
The landscape begins to change as well.
You find yourself stepping into an alder forest.
Tall,
Thin,
White trees growing up to either side of you,
Gently shading you from the summer sun.
The breeze ruffles the alder leaves,
Making a pleasing sound,
Almost like natural wind chimes whispering.
Every now and then the chirp of a bird or flit of her wings comes through the forest landscape.
Bright green moss spreads along the earth to either side of the path,
Nourishing and protecting the trees' roots.
The air smells earthy,
Slightly spicy,
Encouraging and healthful.
You breathe in again,
Receiving the medicine of the alder trees,
Knowing that they're helping you to let go of anything you don't need in your body and offering you hope,
Sweetness,
Healing and calm.
After some time,
You start to notice a new sound through the rustling leaves of the alder trees.
It's the sound of the ocean,
Rhythmic and gentle,
The sound of the tides coming in.
You notice a warm,
Low sun,
Shining through the alder forest.
The path turns into soft,
White sand beneath your feet.
You come through the shade of the alder forest onto a soft sand beach,
Wide and quiet,
The waves gently crashing along the shore.
There's someone here who has been waiting for you.
They are resting on one of two beach chairs.
The second one set up with a soft towel facing the water.
As soon as they see you,
This person's face lights up with a warm,
Delighted smile,
So happy to see you.
They gesture for you to come sit down next to them.
And the beach chair looks perfect and relaxing after your long walk here.
You gratefully sit down,
Noticing more about the person next to you.
You know them well,
Actually.
You immediately feel safe and comfortable with them.
They are someone that loves you,
That always has.
You may or may not know them from your lifetime,
But you know that they are on your side,
Someone who helps protect and guide you.
You feel totally safe in their presence,
Happy to see them,
Comfortable and relaxed.
The two of you sit together,
Watching the waves,
Enjoying the perfect late summer afternoon as the sun begins to shift and change colors.
You could talk if you want to,
And you are more than welcome to ask this person anything you'd like.
Silence is also comfortable here,
More than welcome.
You are simply enjoying the sunset and the company of this beloved person next to you.
The sunset is perfect and beautiful.
Pinks,
Oranges,
Deep purples and golds,
Shifting calmly over the clouds as the sun goes to sleep for the night.
You notice your own eyes beginning to relax,
Your body sinking and softening into the towel beneath you,
Which starts to feel more and more like your bed.
As you drift off into gentle relaxation and sleep,
You find yourself at home,
Back in this bed,
Safely transported to this place,
Ready to sleep deeply for the rest of the night.
